Carbuzz Confirming Price??

Just read this today:

http://www.carbuzz.com/m/Article.aspx?Id=31127

They seem to be confident of a 51K price tag...

Glowing review. If the driving reviews even come close demand for this car will be off the charts at a price of low 50s. I'm number 9 on the list at my dealer and worried I won't see a car until 2017.

I wasn't aware that the overboost function was only available with DCT.

It isn't mention by BMW in the press release or in their other info so I see no reason for it to be so. The gearbox is the same as in the M4 so no issue with the torque.

Using the proportion between the Canadian cost of the M4 GTS (153,000 Can) and the cost of the M4 GTS in US dollars ($134,200), both confirmed amounts, you see that the cost of the M4 GTS in the US is 12.3% lower than its cost in Canada.
Applying that proportion to the confirmed price of the M2 in Canadian (61,000) you arrive at a US base cost of the M2 at $53,497.00.
So there, that settles it!

Here's another perspective... the Canadian M3 is $74,000 (base) and the US M3 is $63,200 (base). So, based on that, the US price for the M2 would be $51,900 if it keeps the same ratio

These journalist likely pull from the same sources we do, i.e. the thread in this forum.

CarBuzz is not anywhere close to a reliable source, so take what they write with exactly one grain of salt.

The car will most likely be $50,000-$52,000 +/-.

The article is mistaken. None of the official press material mentions or even hints this is the case - and of course it would make no sense.

It is confirmed, it is on the BMW website. Note 51,700 does not include the $995 destination fee
