Not good at all. No hope of limping home with this type of failure. The EOS BPM4 unit is $699. The online material implies it's PNP (DME-BPM4-LPFP). Looks as if you need to tap into either 40 or 50 amp service and the unit must be located in an interior location (not sealed).

Quote:
The BPM4 does not get it's power wires from the OEM harness. The unit comes with 10ga wiring from battery to the unit and then also comes with 10ga wiring from the unit to the pumps. The only thing that gets plugged into the OEM harness, where the factory EKP used to go, is a connector that plugs in to receive the PT-CANbus signals from the DME.

Does the LPFP upgrade only become a concern with >E50?

You can have it right by the trunk fuse box in the trunk, or underneath the little tray on the right.

You can have it connected directly off the battery since it has an intelligent sleep mode, and the terminals it comes with has a fuse.

I've seen it very from car to car, with direct Injection you can have less pressure on the feed line vs. pi so I've seen people do E50 on the stock turbo and stock lpfp.

Of course ethanol concentration is not the only factor affecting how much the lpfp can handle, it's how much fuel you're using as well. With a big turbo you are pumping more air which needs more fuel from the lpfp as well.

Yes, sounds like a proper place. This way you can access the USB port if necessary for additional tweaking. Update: It sounds as if the BPM4 is in lieu of, not in addition to the EKP which may be subject to inspection by BMW IF a stored fault code (ISTA) is present.

Yeah it replaces the factory ekp, I personally wouldn't expect warranty once modified. If they wanted to they could press charges for warranty fraud, so my philosophy has always been pay to play and don't expect anyone else to cover damages caused by you.

Yes, definitely not my intent. Just trying to stay under their radar.

Are those actually pictures of the N55 pump? Shouldn't it look different from the B58 one they show?

I'm asking because I genuinely don't know. Not implying that it should look different.

There is new picture on the n55 one. The main difference is the stainless pipe that is different from the b58
The pump itself is the same. That’s why you can add a b58 pump on a n55

Yes, the design is to have one single pump unit and different base plates to fit either the N55 or B58 without needing to design an entire hpfp. This essentially makes the development cost 50% of what it would be for two cars.

I can't comprehend the different flow capacity numbers of the Stg1/2 Dorch pumps of B58 and N55. Are these the same pumps for both engines or aren't they?
Also, the numbers of the 'standard' B58 pumps differ in the descriptions for B58 and N55..

N55 STG 1 - 1.221 cc/rev
B58 STG 1 - 1.299 cc/rev.

Disclaimer, I don't know if the pumps are different or if there's slightly more lift on the B58 pump drive lobe and the pumps are the same.

Yup there is more cam lift on the B58 which corresponds to more fuel flow.

That Dorch product certainly looks very tempting... I particularly like the replacement fuel lines that they provide. Looks so much better than the flexible lines used with the Spool Performance pump.

Yeah it looks good, but I prefer the spool kit because they use AN fittings and sell a full stainless AN HPFP to LPFP fuel line kit. Plus the spool kit comes with a 10 micron filter.

Hopefully the fact that dorch engineering has a similar flowing HPFP for cheaper will drive down spool's pricing.

Looks like MHD has officially released v1.47 (just downloaded it) with support for Dorch Engineering HPFP's (B58/N55 ). Once the Dorch units are available for sale (11th), I'll place the order (S2). The BPM4 and S2 LPFP (Walbro 525) arrived last weekend along with the fuel-it kit (lines, ethanol analyzer etc.). We just need some warm weather to install all of this.

Interesting, they provided a support bracket. Is it there to clip the wire harness to ?
