Bicycle transportation solutions?
Hi,
So can I just ask peoples experience and solutions for carry a bike or bikes in/on the M2? My assumption is that a bike rack can be fitted on the roof as it has the points on the roof? Never fitted any type of bike rack on any car before. One obvious option could be folding the seats down with pedal and wheel/s off put in the back. Chances are it will be just the one bike but wondered what my options are? Many thanks, Paul |

If you want to put the bike in the back it would probs mean both wheels off. I'm tall, so my bike's seat post height is massive, so that meant both wheels and seat post off for me. I got fed up with that quickly and bought some BMW bars and a Thule 531 bike rack. It works pretty well and you fit/remove them all in about 10 mins.
If you take your bike abroad you'll not be able to get a bike box in it too, so that'd probs have to go on the rack too somehow. |

Just wondering if your Thule bike carrier fitted straight onto the BMW roof bars or you needed a fitting kit? Thanks |

Basically got the roof bars and a Thule upride 599 on order but not sure if I need a fitting kit or adapters, will know when it arrives but just being pre-emptive / inpatient 😆

Sorry missed this, been off here for a while. Yes, I did have to buy adaptors for the thule rack. You need the 24mm wide adaptors and whatever length it takes for the bike rack you have. These look like they might be the ones.

Two full sus MTBs defo fits in boot (seats down)
Good you found a solution.
In case it helps others with decisions/ options, two full sus bikes in a large bike bag (towel between frames, pedals off) fit inside the boot with seats down. Can even get one set of wheels inside the bike bag (large-ish chain reactions bag) leaving the other set to fit behind driver/pas seats in the wheel bag set. Ideally two people to ease loading as slightly awkward due to weight of two bikes in one bag. Easy if one bike to load yourself. Last edited by JustDrifting; 11-29-2020 at 03:53 AM..
