Can be seen quite easily here: http://www.motortrend.com/news/2016-...-coupe-cockpit

Not sure what BMW was thinking. They need to take a page out of Mazda's playbook with everything about the new Miata being centered around the driver.

You are building a car supposedly for enthusiasts after all. Why make them sit an angle from the steering wheel even if it appears to only be by a few degrees?

That wide angle camera shot is distorted to begin with. I just sat in an M235 and you have to be really looking for it to notice. You want to see a car that the seat is really offset, look at the Z4 and GM's full size pick up trucks.

Wide angle lense distortion.

Just measured the seating position in my M235i and it is straight. However it is offset inwards 1" to steering wheel center.

My X4 is perfectly centered.

Not sure if this affects RHD cars too but for years this has been noted on many cars / manufacturers.

The passenger seat has the same offset.

Crooked Seat??

Can anyone who has picked up their confirm what the Motortrend review video is stating re: the drivers seat being crooked and aimed towards the left hand side of the car?

Really strange if that is accurate? Perhaps they'd reviewed a pre-production car that had a fault?

Can't tell driving it. If you sit there and actually stare you notice it so Jason's review states the same...sure its somewhat askew but did he say anything about it affecting performance? Nope.

It's a cool feature. When I'm drifting around a right-hander I don't have to crane my neck to the left so much.

Yes, I'm sure it doesn't affect performance or drive-ability, as no other reviewer has mentioned...just seemed a bit odd.

But by no means does this diminish my desire for this car!!

My car arrived today so I went to look at it. Sat in it and drove it around the parking lot back to where they prep the cars and didn't notice it. I didn't even think about looking at it until I was driving home.

MT mentioned this in their first review back in Feb too, just that some people were slow on the uptake to notice it:

That's interesting. I guess they could have modified the actual seat a bit to have it line up straight too?

I notice it in my F30 since i feel my right hand is closer to the right side than my left hand to left side.

i thought that i was the only one with OCD.

yes they have the crooked seat problem. Traded in my 235 for the m2. 235 is automatic and the problem is exaggerated with the lack of clutch pedal. with a three pedal setup, the problem is less apparent.

If you guys think this car has a crooked seat, you should drive a Viper. That seating position is friggen horrible.

Didn't really notice it before but I hope it doesn't drive me crazy.

Also, shamelessly stolen from another thread. Check out this alignment. Even with a massive SUV they couldn't be assed to fix this?

After looking at the pic,it doesn't seem like a big deal.I never noticed it in the M235i that I took for a test drive or the M2 that I sat in at the dealership.

I've had my m235 for a couple of years now and have always noticed slightly more pressure from the seat on my rights side than my left. Not enough that it's and issue but it's definitely not truly square to the wheel.
