I was hoping it'd go to BS, but the car is too cool not to own. See you suckers at the back of the grid in AS.

I think its going to depend on the competition in your region. My time last month was only about a tenth behind the first-place car in AS. I’m confident I can be competitive in AS; I say, bring it!

Which region are you in? I'm in SFR, so there are some really good drivers here. Still, on a 60-second course, it's only a half second PAX difference. That's definitely within the noise of driver availability, but might not cut it at nats.

I don't think it will have a chance at the national level against the Z06 Vettes.

They did include this comment about it: "the SEB prefers to evaluate the effects of recent classing changes involving BS before adding a model of this level of capability."

So go out and suck at driving this year is the plan.

Houston. BS maynot be one of our strongest classes nationally, but the M2s dominated last year.

I'm in a region that has produced champions, so I'm resigned to never doing well at any autox event... which is part of why I just don't go anymore. HPDEs are a much better time / money investment IMO.

Got my 265/285 RE-71Rs mounted just in time for the Crows pro. The rub is real. It's not offensive, but definitely gets contact at close to full lock.

Good info. Have you competed on this setup yet? So far, my 255/275s are working fine.

Can confirm. It's bloody quick. Heitkotter and I were 1-2 at the Crows Landing Pro Solo in a very competitive class. Unfortunately, Matt Jones's Corvette broke down on Sunday so it was just a battle between the M2C and the Cayman GTS for the win.

Also, as an added bonus, vigorous autocrossing will wear down the front tires enough to stop the rubbing. All that wear means I'm going to need new tires very very soon, though.

I was following on live timing. Congrats on the result. Does that mean they no longer rub in normal street driving? Also, are you on your factory 788s?

Thanks! Yes, they no longer rub with street driving and we were on the factory rims. Sadly, I don't think anybody makes an aftermarket rim in AS trim. I'm going to flip them on the rims, so with a bit more meat on the shoulders they may rub again. No worries if they do, though, Fontana will fix that....

Can you be more specific about where they rub?

It's on the vented portion of the fender liners. Especially when going in reverse, you can hear it.

Congrats on the strong finishes. I honestly thought the M2C was would struggle in AS with the tire size challenges. Your two top 10's in PAX likely sealed the deal to stay in AS. Very impressive, especially with the 265/285 combo. I may need to rethink my BS setup.

Fantastic results for essentially the M2C's first time out at a highly competitive event! I see that an OG M2 placed 1-2 in B-street too. Clearly the M2C is faster than the OG, so I guess the SEB was on the right track choosing A-street.

Congrats!

Would it be worth shaving the 265/35s, when new, for the front down to say 4/32?

What front bar were you using?

Thanks, everybody! Yeah, sadly that probably does seal the deal for AS but never say never, since these tracks featured a wide open straight that had the BS M2 sitting on its rev limiter for ages. Still, we weighed the two cars back to back, and on similar enough fuel loads, the M2C was only 117 lbs heavier (and once someone makes lighter wheels for it, maybe that will drop below 100 lbs).

Front bar is the dinan on full stiff.

I wouldn't bother shaving the tires. The car is so heavy that we already need to flip the fronts, so I'm not willing to waste any precious rubber....

What considerations led to your choice of the Dinan? Did you buy the set and not install the rear bar? They dont appear to offer them separately.

Yup, I've got the rear bar hanging out. I didn't do much looking into bars... It's just what Bucki runs and he's had great success so I went with that.

So after having spent a year racing the M2C, I can report that its great results at a grippy and wide open Crows Landing didn't translate to other sites. The car got destroyed at Packwood and Fontana. And I never got a fair shake at competition against a Corvette on corded tires at the San Diego Match Tour. All told, the M2C isn't cutting the mustard in AS.

I wish they can make the M2C a STU car. with its size and power, a bit of suspension upgrade will go a long way, and should be competitive against 370Zs.
