As a point of reference, I picked mine up 9/9 and there was no mention of the form. It was an August (Week 32) build.

So are August 1 and later builds affected or not?

Understand you may not want to do this but did you ask your dealer? Mine actually forgot about the disclosure form.

I did not... And you're spot on about me not really wanting to now.

If there is indeed going to be a recall and I'm included, no problem. I'm not going to unnecessarily sign anything close to legally binding though.

I asked BMW Genius and they indicated that the issue was not present for my car that has an expected completion build date of this Friday.

FWIW, my dealer informs me confidentially that no fix has been made at the factory level, and a fix at that level may be made in the future. In the meantime, BMW will service faulty diffs after point of sale on a case by case basis only.

There's only one way to find if the diff has a problem and that's to drive it

Ignore what Genius/your SA/BMW says if it's going be a good or bad diff, it's not worth getting stressed about. Just drive it and if there's a problem tell your dealer to order a replacement, that's what the warranty is for.

According to everyone on here (at the time) and at BMW AG the July+ build cars weren't affected, I proved them wrong but am still driving the car and having fun till the replacement diff turns up

1200 mile service on replaced diff?

I picked up my M2 at the Welt the last week at June and dropped it off July 1st for it's voyage home. My car was affected by the diff recall and was held until they could replace it.

I took re-delivery of my M2 on Monday and had the 1200 mile service done yesterday. I asked my SA if I needed to come back after the new diff has 1200 miles on it (it had less than 200 miles on it at the 1200 mile service) and he was told no by the shop manager.

I'm concerned that the new diff is still going to be breaking in and shedding metal for the next 1000 miles and should have it's fluid changed again, but BMW dealer is saying no.

Does anyone have a copy of the technical bulletin they can check to see what BMW recommends?

If your diff was replaced, it does need to go in for a fluid change @ 1,200 miles. Make sure your dealer checks his facts.

Had my M2 serviced yesterday too but they didn't touch the diff as I'm still waiting for the new one. They said once it's fitted and has done the 1,200 miles, they'll have it back and service it separately.

FWIW, here you go, straight from the horse's mouth: 'Technical Action' document 0033990100 of July 19, 2016 (see the text highlighted in yellow).
(Source: here)

Quick translation:
"After the rear differential axle change it is additionally required to perform a break-in control [maintenance] (rear differential axle oil change after approx. 2,000 km [approx. 1,200 mi]) and to be charged under special diagnosis # 00 33 99 01 00.
It has to be pointed out to the client to observe the break-in procedure."

Anyway, ask your dealer to ensure checking with BMW whether this also applies in your country.

Just curious, is your car on the recall list, or did you sign anything when you took delivery about the diff?

Maybe your car is ok, hope so anyway. I'm not sure what exactly is bad with this diff, and why some are good others not. On the mybmw site you can plug your VIN into the safety recall link if you are interested, but I'm thinking you probably know this already.
