Very nice review!

If this new M2 had a hydraulic steering rack from the e92 M3, I would definately get it.
I can't stand the steering wheel giving no feedback.
Which is also the reason I haven't yet bought a F82 M4.

I would absolutely be interested in a gran coupe 2 series and it would be a great competitor to the RS3. Looks so much better than the M2.

I'm with you. The hydraulic racks are still better. But they have definitely improved since the very first EPAS systems and the M2's steering is perfectly acceptable to me and I've been very critical of EPAS in the past. When I'm driving the M2, I don't even think about it. Might be worth another try.

Yes, but it's this complexity that BMW said they wanted to remove from the new cars. It was too complicated before and nobody used bothered to customize.

Good question. I don't think I ever 'felt' the overboost kicking in. Hard acceleration just felt like hard acceleration. It was seamless to me.

OP, thanks for the awesome video review - great work on the shoot and the editing! Also all of the pictures uploaded in this post also brought out the drool on the keyboard.

Well done Sam!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it.

But on the street, it is very boring. I ordered my F10 M5 with the 6MT and love every mile. Except in traffic! So after a particularly torturous stint in Toronto traffic three months ago, I promised myself that my next M car would have the automatic. But after hearing your description of how amazing the manual is, I just called my Sales Advisor and asked him to change my order. Know that every time I get caught in horrible traffic with this beast, your image and comments will materialize in my psyche.
Wow, great job on the transmission change. You will have so much fun with it that it'll be worth it. The clutch isn't heavy at all and won't be a pain in traffic. At least compared to something like a 997 GT3. THAT was a painful clutch in traffic!

Depends on the adult. I'm an smaller adult and I fit in the back OK. I wouldn't put a six footer back there for an extended amount of time.

Most cars are MT and most people handle it just fine.
I have never driven a MT and felt "Oh, man... My left leg is killing me".

And this comes from me, one of the biggest AT-lovers on earth.

^Wow - try the Dan Ryan expressway in Chicago at 5pm. I swear my left leg is bigger than my right because of the constant (engage - clunk - disengage) of a MT.

Most cars at MT?? According to a 2014 edmunds study, only 3.9% of the cars on the road are MT. Maybe on your island

Aight, maybe if you drive an older WRX STi. Recently drove a Hawkeye WRX and that clutch was fucking heavy. BMW clutch, compared to the Subaru, is about 139x easier to operate, lol. No problems here.

And I don't even do leg days.

You can't really compare the US to the rest of the world were MT are dominating even though AT are catching up quick now with the advances made the last couple of years. On bigger cars AT are dominating but all smaller cars are almost only offered with MT.

They can in my E36. this car isn't any smaller. I'm also not asking to *travel* with four adults. I just want the occasional crosstown jaunt. We'll travel with the crowd in someone else's car.

Different people have different requirements. I like 4 doors to get my young kids and race tires in the back seat, though it sounds like the new rubber on this car won't fit like my stock 235/40 17s ...maybe. Only time will tell.

Lived in Chicago for 20 years. Go back to see family every year.

Once you experienced the 101 in California - left foot gets stronger.

Sam, your narrative concerning how well the stock suspension handled Laguna Seca begs the question, other than adjustable height, why would someone purchase the M suspension?

I guess we'll need to wait for reviews of the M Performance suspension kit.
Preferably with actual lap time comparisons between stock and MP setups.
Because if it doesn't actually make the car faster, it's just a cosmetic mod.

And we'll need to ignore the inevitable "Dat Stance ! ! !" posts.

I don't know either. I love my mt and drive in LA traffic regularly. Guess others don't love mt as much as they say they do. Soon manufacturers will rid of mts because there's not enough mt enthusiasts left...
