Some say that the mini cat will eventually get clogged, and at that point I will try to get a free replacement or just buy another one for $49. Either way its better than risking voiding my warranty for a $400 tune that adds hardly any performance. But that's just my personal opinion, each to his own.
Why wouldn't a tune add performance? I thought JB tuning would clean up the slack OEM left behind in terms of timing, boost etc...

Jb4 will add significant performance increase over downpipe on its own

Yeah totally agree, just curious as to why photos_by_ronnie would believe a tune would barely add performance.

I have a 335i N54 where a JB4 adds 80 whp. I don't know the exact number of what the JB4 adds on an M2, but it's nothing remotely close to that. Maybe 20-30 HP? Not worth risking warranty over that little bit of HP. I've been modding and tuning cars for a while now, and 20 HP gain can barely be felt in most driving situations.

Why would you lose warranty over a tune? Just remove it before your visit

On previous vehicles, that's what I did. But those were super easy plug and play OBD II tuners. Plus I hardly ever had to go to the dealer anyway.

With BMWs, you get free service (which I will be taking advantage of), so I will be visiting a dealer at least every 5,000 miles. And the JB4 on my 335i takes quite a bit of time to remove and install, definitely not worth the hassle of always having to do that. So many plastics underneath the hood, and they all get brittle and break over time as the car ages if you keep removing them.

In case anyone is getting codes with catless downpipes and they do not run a tune that hides these codes, I am happy to announce that VRSF DP fix is now in stock at Extreme Power House

I'm not sure about the other products but this is a fix you install and leave on and it will hide the CEL code

The mini cat attaches to the actual DP @ the o2 sensor so its easy to install and uninstall in one step when installing/uninstalling the DP. It also doesn't require any splicing of cables..and cost half the price. It also doesnt hide the cel..the cel light just wont go on bc the air going to the o2 sensor is passes through the mini cat lol

over all both are great products and have the same goal of no cel

Even JB4 can hide the emission codes but you won't pass the emission test if you have a catless down pipe since you have to revert it back to map 0 for the emission test, and emission codes will pop up shortly. So, you will need a down pipe fix like this one.

Just a heads up for anyone wanting to try this..after 1,800 miles my rear o2 sensor has failed. I'm removing the mini cat and the catless downpipe. Big Daddies Garage being no help, I wouldn't recommend buying from them. For anyone who already did, be warned!

I wish you the best of luck with it, but I would recommend getting a mini cat somewhere else other than Big Daddies if you're set on doing it. Enjoy the sound!
