Lol yeh just a generic 2 series and it's animated too. So like when I go to sport mode you see this generic 2 series drive drive onto the screen.

Thanks for the pics! Looks like there are a ton of options to go through.

Question for OP or anyone else that knows. but will the car have some sort of connection to the internet to grab weather data? Or is that from your phone and relayed to iDrive from it?

I'm in Canada if that makes any difference.

I'm not sure about in Canada but the car has its own internet connection which is a part of connected drive.

I've just collected my car today which has the new iDrive on and it's really neat, but still getting used to it,the Nav especially so as the graphics are more involving than the old one.

I went for the online entertainment which has Napster and Deezer and it's pretty epic, shows the album cover too

The iDrive takes weather from the Web.

You don't need your phone.

But does your car need to be connected to a provider for that internet weather to come through? I believe OP (in another thread) has his car connected to AT&T.

Or is the car automatically connected to some BMW provider that will allow free weather info to come through? I understand GPS is standalone in the car, which allows for the navigation and traffic, but weather is from the internet.

As far as the UK is concerned the weather is like you say, automatically connected to the BMW provider and is free.Incidentally the old Prof Nav was the same as far as the weather is concerned.Obviously I can't vouch for NA

What is not free is the WiFi hotspot which comes with a free trial of 1 GB and is payable thereafter.

Is it this that you might be getting confused with ?

It's part of BMW connected drive which has its own internet. Does not need your phone or wifi hotspot.

Yes, you can draw letters on it.

Hrmm, that seems more useful if your car is stolen vs forgetting where you parked at a school or sports stadium parking lot etc.
