Exclamation Evidence of BMW M2 with N55 turbo 6 cylinder engine

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
This update brings us The News of the Year. Some of you may remember me from the crazy bmw.com-sourced pre-prod info dump in early 2013. I found another source. The info is very limited this time: just the model, engine, and transmission type, and lists not only the models that are guaranteed to come, but also all those that BMW considered as a possibility (for example, the list includes both RWD and xDrive, manual and auto US F31s). The regularly updated list has been kept here: http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=901686

Ladies and gentlemen, here is the latest update -- get ready for BMW M2!

-- BMW M2, N55B30T0, manual and auto

* This tells us at least that an M2 has been tested, and with an upgraded N55 engine paired to both a manual and auto transmission.

* The homepage image used is a rendering only.

nothing to confirm anything so far..rumors upon rumors..thats my take..but expect a M2...manual only in 2016 stripped down to 75,000...and starting adding up
limited production too...okay that's my take...nothing confirmed on anything..

Not every model moves from engineering tests to production. But if it does go into production, it always is exactly as specified.

The reason is simple: by the time I see a new model, its design is finalized. Possibly, option lists are not settled, and some tweaks can be made based on test results, but the general blueprint is there.

This is not a rumor.

Both manual and automatic are in the works.

You... should... really... cut... down... on... ellipses...

I have predicted a 6 on this car since the 4 rumor first dropped. Still betting on the 6.

Did your source told you what type of auto transmission the car will have ZF8 or DCT7?

This is bitter sweet news... It's great that BMW has decided to go with a 6 as oppose to a 4, but an N55? I mean how many generations of cars are they going to try and get out of the N55. Sure, it's probably upgraded a little, but c'mon, let's get a new 6!

Even if he does, Scott has been wrong in the past on some things.

I'm just thrilled to see confirmation that the M2 has been tested and is being developed!

This month's Car and Driver has a article about 25 upcoming cars you should wait for. The M2 is on the list and they said it is a 400+ hp version of the N55 engine.

Couldn't be happier to hear the news! A 6 cylinder in the M2 will be a definite crowd pleaser. Thank you for posting.

The thing that sucks the most, if true, is the limited production BS.

That's just dumb. Make as many as people want. Don't create this artificial situation where interested people can't get one.

Because that's exactly what happened with the 1M. It would be a shame if this is true...

I'd so much rather have an actual S designated motor, developed by the M crew than a bog stock N line motor, no matter the cylinder count.

I think I'm most disappointed to see that the 220i and 225i are going to be active tourer models, rather than the coupe

Oh yea, and an M2 is nice...
