BMW Corporate Emissions Sample Request?
Has anyone ever received a request to participate in an emissions durability test from BMW as indicated in this cover letter I received today in the US Mail? The phone numbers and email addresses for BMW match, and I’m thinking about following up with phone calls and a dealer visit to confirm it is legit.

I can’t comment on this specific study, but I can offer that this is absolutely the sort of study that car manufacturers conduct. Before retiring in 2020, my dad worked as a Field Service Engineer for Subaru of America. Subaru regularly conducted emissions studies on customer cars. One difference is that direct Subaru employees would run the studies, rather than a 3rd party like indicated in the letter from BMW. So my dad would be the one responsible for collecting customer cars, running the study, gathering the metrics and measurements, and returning cars back to their owners here in the SF Bay Area.
