Catless DP too raspy with Remus, solutions?

Hey all,
I’ve had a catless downpipe and tune on my OG for a while, installed a Remus cat back yesterday. While it sounds amazing at 4000rpm +, it’s pretty raspy and blowy (not sure that’s the right word for it!).
Would love some input on best options, read lots about the Fabspeed sports car, but not sure I can wrap my head around $1700 for a cat after paying for the Remus.
Thanks for any advice!

The Fabspeed is more expensive partly because they "guarantee" no CEL. If that's not important to you, there are a myriad of other downpipe options for our cars. Might be worth looking around at X-PH to see if anything catches your eye.

You could also go the route of a valve controller. I have the CG Precision one on my car along with Remus exhaust and HJS Euro 6 catted DP, and it definitely helps quiet things down. Not sure how much louder catless is though.

The Remus cat back is basically a straight pipe. When paired with a catless DP you're basically asking for rasp and drone.

You'll need to switch to a catted dp like the Fabspeed you mentioned. Active Autowerke is also an option which uses GESI and is a couple hundred dollars cheaper. GESI is nice and since you're already catless you probably don't care about CELs.

MAD also makes a high flow dp thats over a thousand dollars cheaper than the above two options. It could be a great option for you if you don't care about CELs and don't want to push a ton of power through it.

Or, you can change to a different cat back system.

I have the Remus paired with Fabspeed Sport cat DP. I also have the Remus valve controller.

The controller really lets you change the volume and tone quite considerably. I actually quite like it closed or 50% open, and really only open 100% on rare occasions like at high speed.

Catless sounds like crap on this car, only fanboi's need apply.

Fabspeed sport cat is where it's it.

Yeah I don’t hate the sound of mine either. Catless and stock catback is not a bad combo at all.

I ended up finding a Wagner catted DP for cheap on Facebook marketplace. Got it installed today and it sounds incredible! All of the best parts of the remus (high pitched scream at 3500-5000 RPM) and none of the drawbacks from the catless (raspy blowing sounds).
Thanks all for your input!

I’ve found a few videos of catless with the Remus and I have to agree with you it doesn’t sound the best. Way too loud and sounds like a diesel truck. Glad it worked out for you in the end

i know you found a solution with the downpipe, but you could have added a resonator from vibrant as alternative solution

Catted DP is most certainly the route. Fabspeeds "NO CEL" warranty isn't quite what it seems (search threads on what they require if you actually want to use that warranty), AA is a better route if you care about no CEL, but given you are catless I doubt that, so I'd go for one of the much less expensive catted options. MAD seems to be popular and at the price it's easily worth a shot.

I suppose we all have a different idea of what "amazing" is. Some guys on here actually like the sound of the S55...

It appears that there is no accounting for taste.

I know, I know, confirmation bias, but honestly, some guys like the sound. More power to them! I wish I did, I'd have a CS, but I just can't give up my N55 sound, and it's that important to me.

+1

if the CEL is a concern, get the Active Autowerke

If its not, MAD catted is the way to go

I don’t have much first hand experience with other systems but I have an Activr Autowerks high flow catted DP (and muffler) and it sounds AMAZING. I wouldn’t say it’s raspy at all. Drone at highly speeds a bit but no rasp. It sounds incredible, I think. But loud also.
