BBS FI-R or 763M?

I'm currently running on 763M and playing with the idea of changing to FI-R. Car is HS. Any thoughts?

I personally like the 763M better, my personal preference would be to have them painted a gunmetal type of colour, opposed to either black or gold options from the factory!

I have 763M in orbit grey from M4CS and I like them a lot. That said, the BBS are super light and look great but oh the $$$! I'd prefer to spend the extra money elsewhere on the car.

FI-R, no question.

The only issue I have with them is the available finishes, as the standard finish is too bright on LBB (BLING), and there is no way I'd drop that amount of coin on black wheels.

I like the Diamond Black finish the best, but it's harder to come by.

Biased comment. kidding aside

Those really look nice. I think I see your car in instagram. Are those platinum gloss or diamond black?

By the way, if anyone is looking for the best price on a set of Platinum's I know where to get it...and it's not any of our vendors...not by a long shot.

Just PM me.

My thoughts exactly. I wish they actually came in gunmetal from the factory.

Yeah, if you can afford it, do it. The BBS wheels have so much more depth to them. The BMW knock offs look decent but aren't in the same ballpark as the FI-Rs.

"BMW Knockoffs" doesn't sound fair, they both have similar styling but are uniquely different.

Also, if you can and is willing to spend over $10,000 for FI-R wheels, then first of all; congratulations and second, you probably picked the wrong car to throw them on..

The 763M $5,000 with high-end tires is a bargain, IMHO and perfect for this segment of vehicle.

I certainly would never classify them as a replica of anything, as they stand on their own merits.

FI-Rs are wider and have more aggressive offsets, so they make your car looks more "angry". However, for the same reason you could have some issues with wider tires and lowered chassis.
Note that they are lighter even if they're wider. Your pocket will be lighter as well

The FI-R is really designed for the slight larger wheel wells of the M3 and M4. You may find you need to lower your car, stretch your stock tires, and add alot of camber to prevent them from poking. And after all that it still might rub.

This is exactly the reason that I had to cross them off my list. They aren't the best wheels to maximise tire fitment on the M2.

Size specs and tires? No running fitment issues? Like this approach

If you move forward the BBS, I'd be happy to buy the 763Ms. What color are they?

Neither, I considered both but the offsets are not ideal to run larger rubber. I plan on increasing power and we definitely need more traction to handle the torque these engines produce.
Ended up with HRE R101s and love them

You say neither but don't provide specifics. It would help your contribution if you share your wheel specs and tire sizes for OP.

If you are referring to me, my wheel specs are:

19x9.5fr et 31 265/30/19
19x11r et 48 295/30/19 MP4S

Depending on what coilovers I settle on, I may need to run 3mm spacers as the wheels sit quite close to the spring collars.

I have done various race wheel set ups over the years (HRE, BBS, etc..). Several BBS setups and the main reason for going BBS back then was for forged wheels. It’s a different ballpark today with many quality forged wheels straight from oem manufacturers. As long as they are not cast, it’s not as critical now.

Dinan's ideal wheel/tire spec for the M2.

GA1R
19 x 9.5 et31 Front, 19 x 10.5 et42 Rear

Tires:
265-30-19 in front, 285-30-19 in rear – MPSS or Pirelli P-Zero Corsa

Zero scrub radius.

The Fl-R wheels are very nice . . . as are those HRE R101 wheels.

If, as Poochie states, the Fl-R wheels cost $10K . . . well, that is where my appreciation ends. My suspicion is the HRE wheels are not far behind in cost?

Although I like the architecture of the 763m wheels, they universally look undersized to me. For that reason, not at all a fan.

I have personally taken an increased liking to the 788 wheels . . . I do not clean my wheels and think they look good ‘matted-out’ with break dust.

Finally, as far as cost-effective aftermarket offerings go, my favorites so far are the Apex wheels CoChris put on his LBB M2C . . . I think the black Apex equivalent would look fantastic on AW and HS but have not come across photos of said combination.

So, my vote, keep the 788s . . . or consider the Apex wheels.
