it would be, in my opinion, something really, really different if it will be offered as a FULL EV supercar, but in the other side, offering also an old school "pure" version of it; I mean Manual transmission, revised V12 of the M760i...no compromises. The right farewell for the ICE era for BMW, celebrating this change with the right "urra" for the pure internal combustion technology. And the upcoming tech of it, with full EV. In My opinion, the ICE version would be sold out withtin days.....

I'm sure Honda sold some civics and accords you'd be interested in :
Funny as all the car firms put it inline with the BMW 3 Series.

But if you want to compare it to BMW 2 Series, no problem, as the 2 Series only sold 5k cars YTD through September giving the Tesla 3 over a 10:1 lead instead of 6.5:1.

And if you want to say BMW 2 Series with an average profit of $5000 per vehicle, that's $25,000,000 in Sales Profit of BMW 2 Series this year. 250,000 deposits of $100 = $25,000,000 as well.

Winner clearly is Tesla.

As for ricers, they have moved to used BMW 1/2/3/4 Series this Decade.
Sure he 3 is a better comparo, but you really cant compare model 3 to an ICE engine model from one manufacturer because the model 3 is really the only electric car in the segment that is also fun to drive and sexy, tesla has really capitalized on that market. But it is part due to pent up demand and being the only good offering. tesla and especially the model 3 are not profitable so I dont think the other automakers are that excited to get into the race. Even the bmw i4 will probably at first be higher end like the model S (or at least with options) to recoup the large up-front R&D. Honestly I think Tesla has more to be afraid of as other established players come to compete with the model S and roadster as thats where the money is. Moreso than the established players are afraid that model 3 sales steal 3 series sales.

Funny thing is your from the same country, so it applies to you as well. Both of you should chill. And Tesla didn't make nothing new, it's all old stuff, with newer technology.

It's all good. I'm not a huge Tesla fan. I just think it's a mistake to overlook them, especially at a time that the establishment wants to say that sedans don't sell anymore.

The upcoming Model Y spells nothing but trouble for BMW's current bread and butter, the X3 and X5. If things go as badly for BMW when that happens, it's almost a certainty that the Quandts will have to find a partner. Silly halo cars aren't going to help.

But anyway, enough doom and gloom, Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Progression for the sake of it won't work in this case IMO. BMW needs a clear purpose and vision to make this model become the foundation of their future. i8 in disguise will not cut it at all.
only time will tell!

I hope I'm not the only one who thought the reveal was a bit too much. The burning man/steampunk vibe was way too cheesy. He was just trying to hype the car for young people who don't know shit about cars/pickup trucks and it really could work, we just have to wait and see. I just hate how car culture is becoming with all these extravagant reveals.

That's all wishful thinking and the usual marketing blabla.

New 2021 EU 95g CO2 restrictions will set a red line and that's the end for big engines above 4 cyl. And for sure they will not make a special series for the US
In my country BMW, MB and Audi already failed with the actual 136g limits (overall count) and due to that have to pay Millions of penalties!!
The truth is, they have no idea, lost the leadership they had with the i-Brand and are now struggeling instead to choose a clear direction.

With the i8 they could back then call a clear strategy: efficient dynamics. A car that outperforms 911 and M3 not only in style and only consumes 4-5L/100km.

Now it's only fancy concept design, visual digital bling bling and a mysterious drive train nobody must know. Weak!

Every model would, if BMW wanted to let people put $100 refundable deposits down. There would easily be millions of 3 series deposits alone, go somewhere else with that Tesla garb.
Wrong. All deposits on BMW's are refundable. Having actually ordered a new car to my spec instead of buying used or generic off lot, I know that.

So, "millions" would put $100 down on a 3 series? Interesting, as BMW sold just under 12,000 3 Series in Q3 2019 while Tesla sold just under 80,000. That's what, over 6.5:1

Tesla deposits have a high follow through.

Seems you have Elon envy.
Seems like you wanna suck his d***. I get he is pretty revolutionary, but the Elonites are out in full force over this cyber truck. They won't let one bad thing be said about the all glorious all powerful musk
That's the problem with BMW Cult Members.

You cannot admit others are successful in car business and bringing excitement without resorting to big grills.

As a major publication noted, the Tesla CyberTruck design is a major hit hit everyone, except the Boomers.
I hate that truck. I'm no where near a boomer. That's all I have to add :
