Tinting and Amp Question
Ok, so I've read a lot about this, but still don't seem to have a definitive answer. During the tint process there are several people that claim the amp in the trunk can get smoked by the tint process. I have a couple of questions to help mitigate any potential issues there.
1. How is the water getting down to the amp? The tint is done on the inside of the glass, so where is the water running to get into that space? 2. Depending on the answer to #1, that means what is the method of mitigation? Will putting towels down in the trunk area be enough? If it's running inside some space, then that means it won't be. 3. RE: Windows. The windows on this car roll down slightly and back up every time we get in/out of the car. How is that going to work after getting them tinted, as I know typically one shouldn't roll them up/down for a day or so? Thanks! |

I recall reading a post someone made on how they temporarily removed the trunk liner and placed towels back there to mitigate any water damage. It was a step by step with pictures if I remember correctly, and I meant to save it but don't think I did.... I'll look through my saved posts just in case. Hopefully someone else reading this knows what I'm referring to and can link it like a true hero lol

I have a post on when it happened to me(see my previous threads)
Worst case it's covered under warranty and when they fix it, they install a cover which addresses the problem. Even if it doesn't happen during tint, there's a likelihood it happens from washing your car and water going into the wheel well. |

Will towels along the windows on the inside and in the trunk not help? The dealer is going to do my tint, but I can guarantee no one is going to that much trouble (the pics shown) to tint a car (at least most aren't). Also, pulling that trunk liner out looks painful. I'm wondering if I can just get it moved enough to stuff a towel down around the amp. I don't want to accidentally break some pins by monkeying around too much.

So is the consensus that the M2 Competition 2019.5+ has a splash guard so there is no need to worry? Going in for tint this Saturday, dont feel like pulling the trunk apart before hand!

Had my 2021 M2C tinted yesterday and did not put anything extra down for protection. It all turned out good!
