Our HPDEs have also been cancelled through the end of March, but I now expect this to last much longer. You just have to look to china to see where they are 4 months after the infection started to spread.

I was fortunate enough to build a SIM rig over the winter (in anticipation of all this racing that is not happening), and meanwhile ended up getting hooked. Highly recommend checking out Assetto Corsa and iRacing, the later being my favorite. The new BMW M8 is so beautifully done in iRacing and is very competitive.

My buddy and I are going to stream our first race tonight at 8:30 Road America - IMSA GTE class; if you are bored, check it out here:

Yes. Although, my iRacing, Project Cars 2, rFactor 2 and GTS virtual track days have increased greatly.

Driving the M2 CSR in rFactor is definitely worth checking out if you have not, very cool. Was able to beat my fastest lap time at VIR pretty easily.

Looks like things are trending towards a shutdown of all track activity until June in the north east.

In the meantime, I think I'm going to get back into motorcycling and buy a new bike to scratch the itch.

I feel you pain gentlemen. I'm about a week away from seeing cancellation of my April 27th an May 8th Nordschleife days. All large gatherings in Germany are being canceled until August 31st. FML

The opening america guidelines published recently are pretty vague. I don't really see how to interpret any of it for autocross or track days, as the closest it mentions is "large venue sporting events". Nor do I see specifics detailing the different between "strict physical distancing protocols" and "moderate social distancing protocols" between phases. I suppose sometimes these things are published quickly and vaguely to encourage commenting and modification of...

https://www.whitehouse.gov/openingamerica/#phase-one

But I really don't see why life can't be a "participate at your own risk" thing. Make sure everyone knows to be extra precautions because we don't know how long immunity lasts, how the virus mutates to circumvent immunity, if there is permanent conditions after getting the virus, about the HIV-like dormant phase that is still highly contagious, etc. I feel tracks should be allowed to open up and let every decide if/how they want to participate after knowing the reality of the situation.

My philosophy for handling things has always been to warn people of the dangers of things, but let them make up their own mind on if they want to continue doing them. And also look out for people who accidentally touch something. Be aware and point it out to them, because we all will slip up from time to time and not realize it. In my experience, as long as people trust you, and you never break your trust, people listen to me.

That said, I get super antsy to spread my social butterfly wings all over the world again, despite knowing it puts me as a top contender for the darwin awards.

I'm afraid that track days will simply fall under sports events or social gatherings over xxx people. But in all honesty, the only time everyone is together is during the driver's meeting, and for lunch.

So I propose the organizers simply provide a call-in numbers, and all drivers call in from their vehicles. And ask participants to bring their own lunch. Than it's no different than going to a gas station.

I was signed up for an early May event at Sebring. They cancelled it but opened a new date June 26-27. I'm looking forward to it!

And it hit today like a ton of bricks. Predictable bricks, but still heavy. Check out the spectacular list of track days canceled so far. I need to pour myself another scotch.

Track day at Grattan on May 15th still on, assuming our governor doesn't decide to extend her authoritarian stay at home order.

I am going to Atlanta Motorsports Park with Chin on May 2. It will be a very small group and one person per car. Thanks to our dumb ass governor in Georgia, I can track my M, then head out and meet my bowling league after which we can get matching Covid tattoos.

I just see through the end of April on there. How far out have they cancelled now? What is general life like there - getting any better?

Yeah, most organizers only cancel within a week or so of the event. They check with authorities and decide based on the latest guidelines. But today I also got a confirmation from RSR Nurbergring that the May 8th event with them will also be canceled. They offered to reschedule in June or July.

All large gatherings are banned altogether. Concerts have been canceled till August 31st, and just yesterday I read that Munich canceled Oktoberfest. I don't think that's ever happened. Restaurants were slated to open June 15th, but we will see.

They have eases some restrictions, like smaller shops can open and kids in graduating classes went back to school this week. But that's only 4th, 8th and 12th grades. Kindergardens still closed.

Germans are encouraged to skip vacation plans this year.

I think unless you take real Draconian measures and stop all outside life, opening will be hard. China had complete lockdown for what, 2.5 months? It was enough it seems in Wuhan. Hopefully other countries learn. But if you do it half assed I think it takes a lot longer.

I'm not counting on a vaccine anytime soon, and unless they triple or quadruple ER capacities, I think they are afraid that they might as well ask people to line up at the morgue. At least the risk groups.

His advisors, Bubba and Jim, said it’s only contagious if you kiss your sister or possibly cousin...
