I just ordered Dorch Stage 1 for $999. Should be plenty of flow for my needs (more than XDI-35!)

I did see some BM3 guys were having to flash twice to get the Dorch HPFP to work correctly. I’m guessing that will get sorted out before I get around to installing my pump.

Just ordered my Dorch Stage II but it will probably be a month or two before I get the chance to install. Also want to get a flew other things (like flex fuel analyzer) and do everything at the same time.

Anyone know why the Dorch number don't match?

What I mean is, on the N55 page it shows the Stock B58 pump doing 0.897cc/rev. but on the B58 pump page it shows the same pump doing 0.954cc/rev

The B58TU numbers shows are confusing in the same manner.

Does the same pump on different motors give different amounts of fuel flow? Why would that be? Especially since the units are given in cc/rev, it's not like the same pump can spin more on a different motor, because the rpm is static at 1 in that number. I suppose that may be the case though... that the same pump pumps more fuel on the B58 engine compared to the N55 engine as all values are roughly 6.35% higher on the B58. That's right and why?

Yes, exactly.... The pump is driven by a cam, pushing a plunger up and down. On the N55 the lobe on the cam is shorter than on a B58, resulting in less flow for a given RPM.

More lift on the cam that pushes the B58 pump. More lift = more volume.

Thanks. Makes sense. I wasn't considering cam height.

Question: Does the HPFP replacement work make it easier to do any other normal upgrade work while we're in there?

Intake are charge pipe are the obvious, but I'm staying with the stock intake and already have the FTP charge pipe. What about spark plugs, turbo inlet pipe, GFB DV, etc? I'm having my shop do the HPFP work, but thought I'd ask.

Install instructions: https://dorchengineering.com/wp-cont...stallation.pdf

Replace the intake manifold with an aftermarket one or add port injection, I suppose. But doubt you or many ppl would be adding those upgrades.

Spark plugs are easy and aren't on that side of the engine. Turbo inlet pipe and diverter valve are on the other side of the engine, towards the bottom, by the turbo. So none of that is in the same area.

Hey guys, a couple more questions if you don’t mind:

One reason I’m upgrading is so I can run a higher Emix year round and I don’t have to worry about HPFP drop outs when temps go below 60F.

Are there any issues with running E45 year round if I only drive my car a couple times a week? What about if it’s been sitting outside when temps get below 30F?

Regarding tune, would you expect the car to make any more power on the BM3 Stg 2 E30 map just by adding ethanol to E45?

If not, any recommendations on the cheapest/easiest path to a custom tune that will add power in the meantime, before upgrading my Dinan turbo to a PS2 or something else?

Thanks.

What's the ETA? Their site says they're backed up for a few weeks, but I assume you ordered before that.

Nahh, I’m in that 2-3-week queue. So, it’ll be a bit.

So is it the case in the N55 M2 engine that if the HPFP is upgraded you can run past 420hp (with FBO) without going with a meth setup?

I know a guy with the stock turbo & xdi 35 and he’s tuned to 425whp. But, the stock turbo runs out of steam and starts to generate a lot of heat.

I’m going to try to go a little over that mark on an E45 map with my Dinan turbo. But, I also can’t push too much bc I’m already fighting high temps on track in the summer.

Mostly, I’m tired of dealing with HPFP issues (especially in winter) and the upgrade will prevent that while giving some extra room for power.

Hey guys, I know it’s been mentioned in other threads but I wanted to confirm:

What spark plugs and gap are recommended for a high EMix and custom tune?

Just follow PTF’s general instructions here, or go with a different plug/gap bc of the Emix and tune?

https://bootmod3.atlassian.net/wiki/...+and+which+gap

With e85 and high boost I recommend 0.020, that's what I'm used to running back in the jb4 days.

I run 0.020 with 97506 plugs. Stock Turbo, CA 91, 93 Stage 2 OTS + Meth.

At some point I'll go with an upgraded turbo, maybe HPFP (especially since these are now not so expensive), and a custom tune.

Pretty sure we'll end up pulling those plugs to re gap or outright replace them with the F8S (@ .020) IF we go with the S3 turbo (fingers x'd). Hard to predict at this point. For now, the fuel upgrades happen 1st (BPM4 and S2/525 LPFP installed yesterday). Waiting patiently for the S2 HPFP (Dorch) to ship out... tap .. tap ..
