Did you skip the Xpel or Suntek PPF
Did any skip doing PPF (Paint Protection Film) on their M2?

Yeah, dont really see a point. Car isnt expensive like a McLaren and this car will have a rough drop in price regardless.. forget worrying about the next owner lol

Yeah just skipped it. Had the appointment scheduled and even had the deposit down, but backed out.
I agree with FSU, this isn't a mclaren and it will get dings, idgaf about the next owner. In 10 years it's going to be beat up sure, but I doubt I'll keep it for 10 years and after 5 I may just touch up the rough spots if there are any. $2-5k for what? A few rock chips? It wasn't an easy decision but I think I made the right one |

I chose to skip it as well...partially just because I'm being cheap and partially, I'm not sure if there will be any difference in the color between the protected areas and the non-protected areas down the road.

Did not skip. In fact getting it done tomorrow. I like my cars being in like-new cosmetic condition (regardless of cost). After a year or so, the sand blasted and chipped paint would get on my nerves and make me appreciate the car less. At the very least, I would wrap the front bumper and headlights which would cut the cost by quite a bit.

Skipped it, or rather haven't done it yet, for my LCI M2. But for the price of the full front I could get some coilovers or MPE so, meh. I did just recently find a rock chip on my front fender, however, and that got me considering it again.

Plan to skip.
The cost of application and removal is as much as a full respray. That alone makes it hard to justify. I also think that it's noticeable on darker cars, particularly with regards to light reflectance off the gloss while wearing polarising lenses. |

I just picked up my car today with full front, slide skirts, Mirrors, lower rear bumper and remove and redo oem film on rear quarter panel. Track package it’s called.
Glad I did because I had like 6 rock chips just 1100 miles driving 920 of those miles were in Europe. I feel much more comfortable driving now. When I got my car back from Europe. I drove to the DMV and back (20 miles round trip). I got a big rock chip on the hood from that drive. California roads are not that clean as Germany. LBB is hard to color match. If I had AW I would skip it. |

I'm probably gonna have mine done. The color is amazing and I wanna keep it that way (LBB) I get that a lot of you plan to get rid of your car eventually then that's totally fine I plan to keep mine for a long time so I wanna keep it prestine. I also think these cars won't depreciate as hard as lots of the people here think.I don't think it will be a car to flip but I definitely think it will retain a good amount of value even m2s go for over 45k used.

I would at least get the front bumper done which should cost around 700. That's chump change for a 65k car.

it's for the current owner. You wash your car, because you want it to look nice. You ppf your car, because you want it to look nice. You don't wash you car because of the next owner.

Skipped. Adds no value to the car on resale and I have someone at work who washes it weekly anyways.
Save the money and invest it or spend it elsewhere, but for the price of PPF I can just say "okay I'll take $500 off the price cause of the rock chips" if someone even notices.... |

Late applying
No way am I skipping. Already noticed small marks in a couple places in the front bumper. I missed my first appt which was the day after I picked it up. Had to wait another 2 weeks. I get it back today. I'll let you all know if HS suffers from the film. Can't believe that it will.

Mine will be done. I have all my vehicles done.
I have a 65k mile X1 and a 70k mike F150 that have PPF and ceramic coating which has kept the vehicles in immaculate condition. That's the way I want them to be. I also fully expect a return on investment selling private party being two slightly niche market vehicles (X1 is an M-Sport N55, F150 is 1 of 2000 'Tremor' model). I've had people think my vehicles have a 1/4 of the miles they actually have.

I did not skip because of track use. Look at the front and side skirt of any car that sees a lot of sessions and it will make sense..
I did hood/bumper/fenders/headlights/sideskirts and replace bmw factory piece. On a side note I discovered that bmw does ppf on their bmw school cars then take it off before sending them to auction. |

How is the paint on these cars anyway? I got my car completely wrapped in Suntek after arrival so it could be the worst paint ever for all I know. I haven't been impressed with the water based paints used on Japanese cars as it's soft and mars and chips easily. Also my 2016 Golf R paint was pretty mediocre as well.
