Of all the models BMW (or any car manufacturer for that matter) have released, when does the first model year ever end up being the most desirable year?

I'll probably do ED 2017 then since there is no rush.

Same here since no rush to purchase. GF will love ED from Munich to Monaco.

Happy wife, happy life!

About 5 seconds for me to come up with.

In general, I agree the later years are preferred, but not with the E36 m3.

I'm not up on the e46 m3 as much but it could also qualify
For starters the later 04-06 e46 M3's are WAY more desirable than the 01-03's.

As for the 95, it is not a fact, but rather an opinion. There are many that prefer the later. It was one of those never ending forum topics, which pretty much proves that it is a matter of opinion. Do a search, takes about 5 seconds

If it does have a full production cycle then I really hope we see a CSL or at least a competition package in a year or two.

^This. I hate exclusivity. I don't care if someone else has the car. This is suppose to be the entry level M-car make it so so we can all enjoy it without having to deal with dealer markup and all the BS that comes with that.

I think a VO M2 CSL could be pretty awesome.

New m2 looks great and has a ton of horsepower but wouldnt it be better to just go up to an m3 or m4. Bigger car, more horses. I feel like the m2 will get looked over.

Depends on the price. If the M2 comes in around 51k like rumors, thats nearly 14k less than an M3. Out of my budget.

I agree with that. If BMW wants to keep their customers who are likely to upgrade their cars throughout the years in the future, having them diving into M division with affordable entry car isn't a bad idea. That way, they have potential customers for M3, M4, M5 and M6. I'm probably gonna wait until like 2018 to pay below MSRP.

Yep...thinking the same thing.

I just leased my M235 as I wasn't quite sold on the M2.

I'm sure it'll grow on me just like the 1M did. I was already figuring out how to break my lease in a year or two lol

If this info stands true...I'll be able to just lease after my M235.

Just drive the living daylights out of it and don't worry about resale.

nah.....HP isn't everything. Enjoyment is everything. Some of us do not want 'bigger' and 'more'.....we want 'smaller' and 'smiles'.

Good! Just like the E30M3. And that's the point... Seen the marketing material ? The M2 marketing materials show the 1M, E30 M3, and 2002tii. None of those were large cars.

Most buyers will get an M4 or M3. And yes Glenn @Sakhirm4 those are big cars '.

The simple truth is those cars are probably larger than the E28M5 and E24 M6. The E30 M3 was seen as a boy racer. A brash, sports car , not a GT.

Those same buyers are still in the market place. Hence the M2.
