Montreal Insurance
Hi,
I'm moving from Vancouver to Montreal in a few weeks. Was curious to know if anyone is here from Montreal and how much roughly they are paying for insurance. I was quoted $4-5k for a year which is much more than I thought. |

Try Wawanesa. Depends on tons of factors (credit history, where you live, how long you've been driving, accident history, ticket history, etc.) but $4k-$5k is typically considered high-risk insurance in Quebec.

4-5k is nuts. If you are single, young, live in the city, have no garage that will jack up your insurance. I am 37 with two kids, live 15km from Montreal (south shore) and I paid less than 1k for my '17 F31 (65k msrp). Even when I was single in my old port loft, I was paying 1300$ or so for a new MINI Clubman.

Thanks. Glad to know I'm not the only one who thinks it outrageous. I like to think I have good credit, I've been driving for 8 years now and have no accidents at fault. And my only ticket so far (knock on wood) has been driving in the HOV lane. Definitely will check out Wawanesa!

I have a 2018 m2 for just over 6 months . I am 35 years old, no accidents. I am paying just under 600$ yearly. ( no joke ) my wifes cx-5 is more and she's mad lol. the lady from BMW referred me a broker, that gives good discounts to bmw. I can give the contact if it's not too late? Jason |

When I shoped around last year the car made little difference really. An M2 or a civc was basically the same price. I just priced out a 2020 M2C online with my insurance and the price was 50$ more per year than my 2017 F31. But again, I'm 37... if you are under 30 your results will vary!

I have no accidents at fault but I'm still quite young (24) so I do feel like that may have something to do with the high quotes. |

Oh yes, 24 with an M2... 4-5k makes more sense! I was quoted 5k for a used Corrado VR6 when I was 18...
