I’m happy to leave me one means I will get maximum use from my service plan!

Sorry, I was quoting Jasonoldschool where he confirmed his car is showing 1200 miles or 1 year for run in.

So if CBS kicked in it would reduce the mileage, not the date, the date would always be 12 months.

Which again, seems unlikely that CBS would kick in 1000 miles earlier. Let's see what BMW will reply to my latest email, I'll keep the thread up to date so to help people in future as this might happen to others too.

Did you say the date said July, how many miles did it say were remaining?

If you had it done by date then it was a fixed interval, non CBS, service by date.

If the date said run in due by July 2019, then the car thought it was built in July 2018!

I don't remember what the car itself said but it has 264miles when I took it in, and the "online/remote diagnostic" system the BMW representative had, said it was due in July 2019.

And yeah, the car wasn't built in July 2018 not even ordered back then.

And the latest is in:
Quote:
Good morning [ ... ]

Thanks for your further email.

As mentioned the oils have now been changed but, as the components haven’t been worn in up until 1000-1200 miles, we’d recommend following the owners handbook.

Your car does run of CBS so the car won’t need servicing until the car notifies you. When this is due the service light will come on and you’ll be able to book the car in. Servicing the car before this wouldn’t benefit the car or yourself as this would be charged to you and not claimed under the service pack.

With this in mind, this would also cause problems to the CBS system for future servicing and any future servicing may not be able to be claimed under your service pack.

The best thing to do is to wait for the service light to come on and speak to an Approved BMW Centre.

I hope this further information is helpful.

I can see you're getting nowhere with this.

Personally I'd carry on with run in to 1000 or so then get an indy to change the oil again, won't cost much. It's up to you of course.

Just annoying. That's one reason I don't go for service plans, they're just a means to tie you to the dealer network and for them to refuse to do things given a chance.

I'm happy mine will never go to BMW again for any maintenance
