Datalogging channels and the calibration tables are two different things.

Note that most tuners only touch a handful of tables to do a performance tune.. and while it'll get the job done, I'm not sure that's the OE's intention.

Which is why a car that is on a full CS derived tune vs a base or zcp derived tune may drive totally different.

I just flashed BPM’s CS tune on my m2C. It’s a replica of the factory CS file. It sounds like only m4’s can get a straight load of the cs file. Initial impression is very good- the top end power feels much more aggressive. I will post a review and dyno soon.

Sorry, dumb question…. Since M2C has a de-tuned S55, whenever we apply any tune, does it re-tune it back to the "normal" S55 for M3/4 first then add the tuned map on top? 🤔

No, a tune map just is whatever it is. So your stock map is the 405 hp, a stock m3 map would be 425, and some non stock map has whatever values a tuner changes to get some other behavior and power output. Once a map is applied to the car's DME then that's the tune map on the car.

If it applied an m3 stock map, then a tuned map, that would just be applying one map to the DME, then overwriting it with another one, no point to that.

Does BPM charge additional if you want to try different maps?
Any changes low-mid range you can tell with the CS Map?
Lastly, did you think about the GTS Map at all?

The CS map is an improvement at all revs. More low end torque, but not too much where it becomes a tire shredder. The mid range power is huge. The top end is improved also- this is where the m2c stock tune is most limited. The ignition timing feels crisper. It's much easier to break the rear end loose on the CS map, even with my upgraded 255/275 PS4S rubber. The power delivery overall is still very linear for a turbo car.

I did not consider the GTS map because it is fairly close to the CS map and is less OEM because of the lack of water injection.

This is making me want to do BM3 but with their ability to unlock the latest ECU and some random problems I've read here and there I'm kind of hesitant.

Check out BPM sport. I am using their tune. I also used it on my e92 m3 with great results. Customer service is excellent. They offer ZCP, CS, GTS, Stage 1, Stage 2, etc. They had no issues unlocking my 2019 m2c.

What are the differences between ZCP(?!), CS and Stage 1 tunes?? And with BPM, will one able to switch between maps (mainly for switching back to stock before going in to the dealer for services)? Thanks

Pretty pricey, 1K for CS and more for additional maps. May wait for the Steve Dinan new company tune with warranty.

BPM tune is $895. Yes, you will have the ability to switch between maps. I suggest giving them a call about pricing if you want multiple tunes.

I cannot emphasize this enough- BPM's customer service is above and beyond exceptional. They assisted me with me initial flash on Easter Sunday around 9pm. Extremely responsive.

The ZCP tune is a replica of the OEM BMW m4 Competition Package cars engine tune. The CS is a replica of the OEM BMW M4 CS engine tune.

The stage .5, 1, and 2 tunes are more aggressive aftermarket tunes. In order of power:

ZCP, CS, GTS, .5, 1, 2.

For an m2 comp I'd recommend the CS or stage .5. Anything more and you will have a tire shredder and need serious rubber to put the power down.

Very bad news from BPMSport

Quote:
BMW has implemented OBD access protection with their new software, which requires the DME to be sent directly to our facility to enable OBD flashing.
JB4 is currently the only way to go.

I was told this :
"If you order and it doesn't work, we will refund you in full. We can ensure it works before sending it to you. Please let us know your VIN # and we can download your software from BMW and test it here prior to sending you our cable."

I sent my VIN and that was that, never heard back from them....
Just not convinced.

They replied that way after I sent them my VIN, they were very quick and kind in their answers.

JB4 is the worst option imo. Wouldn't ever consider it.

Yes we can tune, but not by ourselves as BM3/BPM or JB4
