Recommendations on first bmw

So I’m looking at getting into my first BMW. I really like the looks of the 328i but have been told the n20 motor was garbage. Was there a year they didn’t have as many issues and more reliable? I also was told to look for the n52 but they are pretty rare to find up by me. I’m looking to spend around 10-11k so I guess I’m looking for recommendations of what type of BMW I could get into for that price that is known as a reliable car. Any info would be appreciated

E46 330i.

If you stay in the E90 cars you'll avoid the dreaded 4-cylinder time-bomb. Save some money for valve-cover gasket replacement.

Beyond that you're better off spending more and going newer as the current 330i 4-cylinder is looking pretty bullet-proof.
