About as expected (for the record, I posted $80K with a $5K buffer on either side, so I knew I could not be wrong). As a DD (my use for the car), absolutely not worth it. For the track, possibly. For anyone trying to recreate a CS with their M2C (carbon roof, hood, splitter, wheels, etc.), absolutely worth it. For those who want exclusivity, well, you can't put a price on that, so it is in the eye of the beholder (or buyer in this case).
Of course, all this assumes the car will be sold at MSRP. Soon we'll find out how many of he 2000 cars will come to the US, and then the fun begins!

I bought a 2015 GT3, not sure I’ll yake my allocation on the CS at that price. Luckily I’m expecting a late production slot so I can see what the market will dictate on price. My initial reaction is they didn’t learn their lesson on the M3/4 CS

Cool car. I'd rather go down to the M2C or up to the 718GT4 though. I'm sure it'll make some folks really happy though.

How come when I visit Rennlist I don't see 8,342 posts screaming about how "Porsche has screwed the pooch on this one. Cayman GTS is just a Cayman with some carbon fiber bits bolted on"? Or "Why the hell would anybody pay that premium when you can just get after market tune and carbon bits for a lower price"? Or "Anybody who would buy a Cayman GTS is a complete idiot"? I get that everyone's got their own definition as to what "good value" is, but... damn! You read through some of these posts and if I didn't know any better, I would think that with the release of the M2CS, BMW has also decided to bomb forum members' ancestral homelands and murder forum members' pets. Somebody else said it earlier, can't remember exact wording, but effectively sentiment was "Why are you so angry about the car? If you don't like it and don't think it's good value... don't buy it!" |

Everyone has loved every iteration of the M2...and it's because it drives and the feeling you get while driving it. And this is gonna be the best version. So it's gonna be the best of the great experience everyone has already experienced and loved. I hope I can secure one because I won't be disappointed. It's sad that all of us are supposed to be BMW enthusiast but most are hating on a car we all asked for.

Lots of people claimed they would pay up to $100k for this dream M2 way back when M2 was being developed. They said they wanted the M2 to be the full M4 experience and more in a track worthy M2 package, including a manual option.
Well your dream car is here so pony up! |

Price seems about right giving value and exclusivity. Dealer markup will be stiff and add another $9K-$10K for California tax and license. I'd buy if I hadn't already bought my M2C. This M2CS is a possible collector's car? Certainly will be worth more at resale than any comparable M2C modded. I don't feel bummed. I'm already driving a car that's really great and makes me feel pretty damn good.

Wow.
~$25,000-$30,000++ over M2/M2C for marginal performance gains and largely cosmetic fluff. I'm having a hard time understanding why anyone would take this over the current offerings unless they are collectors. The big draw to the M2C, for me, was the performance per dollar value in a "grown up" understated package. I'm sure it's an awesome car that drives even better than the M2C, but $25,000 better...? For that kind of money I'd probably go with a used Porsche. |
