Offered a CS. Should I jump on it?

I know everyone's situation is different, but I'm at a real dilema. I've had nearly 35 BMWs in the past 20 years. 2002, E30 M3, E46 M3, M2, ZHP, E38, F80, the list goes on. I truly love these cars and the brand. Whether or not that's a good thing is another story.

We have a 2020 X3M and 2020 M340i in Dravit Grey

Anyway I wanted to get an M2CS since I heard the news a couple years ago, and I was #3 on my local dealers list. They got 2 allocations and I was pretty much out of luck. So at that point I decided to make the wife happy and agreed to the dealer would buy back my two cars and I would get the wife a loaded X5 45e (82k) and an M2C (63k) at a very very gracious discount. The X5 has started production, and they went in search of an allocation for the M2C.

I got a call today that the allocation they received from the other dealer was actually for an M2CS. So now they are asking if I would still want that. No markup.

Will I track the car? Absolutely not. But I love the looks, the aggressiveness, and honestly the small bit of exclusiveness. I tend to switch cars every 1-2yrs, but in some instances I've had them longer. I had my E30 M3 for 15 years. I had originally thought I'd be happy with the COMP, but have thoughts that I'd always would want more.

Should I take the CS allocation? or tell them that I'll be fine with the M2C?

Why couldn't I have a hobby/addition to coin collecting?

Thanks and cheers.

You sound like a good CS candidate to me.

There is no wrong answer here.

My 1M is a keeper, and is a track car now. The CS will be it's complimentary badass daily driver, and will serve as a backup for track duty when the time comes. I hope it will also be a keeper because I love it's looks....but who knows that the future holds.

Assuming this is not a stretch/strain financially then my advice is 100% go for the M2CS based on your purchase history and love for the brand otherwise my feeling is you will be left wanting "more". Also the fact that the one "keeper" car you had was E30 M3 to me the M2 seems to be the closest to the older school M ethos.

To me the M2CS may not be the bargain that the M2C will be but out of the box needs nothing so save $$ by not having to add any upgrades, parts, etc.

Just my opinion(s)

With the limited production and how much of a BMW guy you are...and that you're already trying to buy an M2C, hell yes I'd buy that car. And consider yourself lucky at that!

I agree with what's been stated above. It sounds like you won't be put out financially for the CS. Worst case is you don't like it (doubt it) and get something else.

My wife just got an x5 and it has me debating how much I really want a performance car. :P It's a really enjoyable drive and it's only the x40i

Thanks. I'm definitely appreciating the comments here. I guess my mind always says, you don't NEED it and you could spend that money on something else. Ultimately though, my closest circle knows BMW is my passion. BMWCCA events, teaching street survival, and just wrenching on my toys. Even after all these years, I still just go sit in the car and relax.

I think I'll be making the jump to the CS.

Get the cs. It's meant to be. I'm sure you can make your wife happy with other vehicles unless she's a car nut and knows exactly what vehicle she wants and why.

Why wouldn’t you get the CS? Most dealers are only getting one with a few getting two. A rare car that will be a blast to drive.

Have you tried a p-car before? In terms of fun, I would argue the GTS4.0 to be better in almost every way

But you do sound like an ideal CS candidate. So no wrong choices here

Thanks for your opinion. Exit right. Enjoy the flashing lights.

Now that he's gone.

Yes. Get the CS. You know you want it.

If you were planning on spending money to mod the comp with carbon bits and more performance, you're better off getting the CS.

Mods have no value in resale. A 60k comp with 20k in mods is worth 60k.

The CS has all the mods I would want as stock and if I ever needed to sell, I would only be out normal depreciation.

The CS has a cushier ride option, and that's a big selling point for me.

Usually negative value. Original is always king if resale is what you are after.

I've considered it, but after looking at options the GTS4.0 would be several thousands more. I'm already jumping from the M2C in terms of $ (actually jumping from an M340i).

The biggest drawback for me however is no back seat. I won't be tracking the car (at least not anytime soon). I have a 2yr old, and one of the things I look forward to is taking her to BMWCCA events and on cruises around town.

I bought an M Roadster a few years ago with the logic of "the wife and I will use it while someone babysits". It never happened. 2yrs of ownership and I think maybe 300 miles.

Plus, at 35 BMW's, I can't break the streak with a P-car out of principle
