Throttle Modes

Question:

Does the engine make the same HP in all modes?

Or does it have to be in Sport + for max. HP.

Thank you.

im not sure , but if i would guess id say yes. Each mode has a different power output. The only modes that are identical in terms of power i would say are the MDM/Sport Plus and TCS off.

The “power” button changes the throttle response but the power remains the same. The throttle response is slower in comfort mode than in Sport or Sport+ mode. I usually drive around in comfort but switch to sport+ when I want to get up to speed quicker (passing morons parked in the left lane) or need a more instantaneous power response (when carving through canyons).

You're right. Only the E60 M5 was somehow like that. Weird.

Also on the M6, which was my introduction to M cars. At the time, it seemed cool to have a button that could add 100 hp but now seems gimmicky. At first, I was a bit disappointed it didn’t show up on the E9x M3s but after awhile was glad it wasn’t there. Just easier to mash the petal and have the full power band.

Sport+ ruins the throttle by turning it into an off switch. But it does keep the turbo spooled.

Efficient turns it into an old school turbo. That’s how I drive it most of the time but beware of wheel spin in 3rd gear as it comes on boost. It’s fun though.

Sport is the happy medium for enthusiastic driving.

For me efficient made the car feel like it had zero power off boost and just mostly dead.... and I'm nowhere near a leadfoot or "sporty" driver around town. I drive always in Sport now because it makes this expensive powerful car I got, feel like an expensive powerful car. I also get the EXACT same 21.5mpg as I did in "efficient".
