Great car, great piece of machine right there.

But can anyone answer me this, how do you wash a car with that type of hood? I mean doesn't all the water go straight in to the engine bay or is there flaps that shut them self when the car is shut off.

I am seriously wondering about this

I like the look of this and could be tempted, but I wonder if this is actually any better than an F80 M3 comp?

I assume this has Dakota leather, plus I don't like the lack of central storage, or HUD.

If on the same tyres, I suspect 'Ring times will be very similar as well.

Thanks for confirming. The Dakota has got worse over the years, so I would rather avoid. 👍

The next thing is street legality, the customer racing version are not street legal. The car for sale on bimmerpost is nice, but it is extremely lacking for track use. The first one being the sump is still standard B58 spec which is likely not rated for high G forces, the cooling is not addressed, and I don't like buying used cars for the fact that I don't know what the previous owner has done despite having reciepts and service records. I like my cars a particular way, and taken care of a certain way.

BMW would lose a lot of money selling a track spec M2. Even the GTS which doesn't even meet all your requirements didn't really sell. With the downgraded HVAC the M2 CS is close but you are probably better off with a M2 and strip it yourself. If you want OEM then a Lotus is a good consideration.

Conceptually this is an interesting car.

In execution it's complete rice. More rice then I've ever seen from BMW. They did stop short of putting a giant m power sticker on the top of the windshield, mostly likely because it would be illegal to sell the car like that, not because they don't want to.

It's a shame for 2 reasons.
1) the m2 should be the car in the lineup most geared for us, the enthusiasts, and what they think of us and have given us is rice.
2) underneath the horrid tacked on parts is probably a very good car.

Would not touch this with a 20 foot pole out of sheer embarrassment.

Yeah it was more a food for thought kind of thing, not a serious request because I realize not many people have my kind of crazy thought process.

Yeah that's why I kept my OG m2 because I plan to strip it out for a track build sometime in the future (car is still too new I can't bring myself to screw around with it yet), and target ~450 whp so the S55 wasn't a huge selling factor for me. Plus the brakes regardless of 4 pot or 6 pot setup will have to go anyway in favour of ap racing's setup. Plus the wheels, suspension etc is all going anyways so it feels like I would pay more for an M2C just to remove it anyways.

Yeah I really like the lotus but I do love my German cars. It's not that I like OEM I really love building aftermarket parts, however it is just the fit and finish on things they don't sell in the after market that sucks. Like making custom surrounds to delete vents or head units. I do like a full interior as well since since I do like taking the car out to the mountains, and I had a fully gutted frs at one point and it sounded like I was in a tin coke can.

Anyway, I think a M2CS would set me back >130k euros. Add about 15k euros for 6MT.* So for that money overhere GT4(PDK) please.

I definitely like the interior/wheels/exhausstips and roof etcetera, and in HS or black or white it would be something else. Not in this blue colour imho.

Now I'd go for the steering wheel, exhausttips and I'm already in the market for some black 763Ms(next spring I hope), and a Remus axle back.

FWIW.

*half of that amount goes to Greta Thunberg and other half to Al Gore.

Cheers

Can we all just wake up and agree SO many M2’s on this forum look better and are probably just as fast as this car.

It really is doing nothing for me. Those marketing pics are horrible, looks really girly and soft.

Love it, even in the MB.

I wish I could get my hand on one of these with European Delivery but I know this will just be a dream. Why such a low production BMW? WHY!

Ho well, I will have to be happy with "just" the M2C.

Quite amazed about some of the marketing bla bla bla in the press release info...

New differential? Some are reporting this... Not in a 1000 years. Just the same maybe recalibrated. Where can I get the software?

Three radiators, an oil cooler, two pumps in the oil pan, oil sump baffle... Doesn't the M2C have most of this already?

Transmission oil cooler (when equipped with DCT)... Isn't that standard on a M2C with DCT?

The carbon tunnel in the interior is lovely... I need one of those hahaha that is so cool.

Steel subframe bolted to the body frame without bushings... Interesting, that I can add to my car as well if it has a big impact.

Forged aluminum rear five-link suspension control arms and wheel hubs.... Also interesting to see these. Easy replacement on our M2C's.

15.75-inch vented rotors with 6-piston fixed calipers up front & 14.96-inch vented rotors with 4-piston calipers in rear.... In what way I am I reading here the exact same specs as my M sport brake kit? I have a feeling these are just our (in US stock) M Sport brakes.

Did anyone notice the exhaust? Is that the same exhaust as currently with just different end pipes?

MR
Steel subframe bolted directly to body has been like that since the F80/F82 launched, M2 is the same way. Nothing new. Like you said a lot things on that list are existing. Trans cooler, radiators, brake sizes, etc...all the same.

So basically...tune, adaptive dampers, carbon(hood, roof, tunnel), lighter wheels, Cup 2 tires. The rest is just fluff, including the tacked on aero bits and interior alcantara. Oh and carbon ceramics if you want to shell out another $8k.

I'm pleased for the people who have waited 2+ years living on rumours for this unicorn.

I think it deserves a better colour than Misano Blue.

It will be over $90k fully loaded(remember $8k carbon ceramics). CS premium should bring msrp very close to $80k.

You wash the car with a cold engine.

As should you always.

Not a problem.

Funny..
Amongst 320 million people, there is not a chance in hell of acquiring one which such an absurd limited number, even if you're willing to splurge. Just saying...
It may as well be a unicorn..
Depends on pricing. Car may sit on lots if high MSRP and dealer mark-Up bs happens.
I wouldn't bet on that, the collectors and brokers will snatch all of them up before they hit our shores.
This is unlike the M4 CS was in an already oversaturated market that everyone is attempting to compare it to; the M2 CS is something special in 2 series hierarchy.
The auto-enthusiast proverbial internet just blew up within the last hour of this leak. It's a star
I would. 2018 M3CS sat in dealer lots all year WITHOUT dealer markups. And only 1200 world wide and 550 came to the U.S. I bought one.
