Michelin Pilot Cup 2 tires vs Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires

I've opted for Pilot Sports for my January delivery. This was due to the fact I won't track the car, I've heard the Pilot sports are better daily drivers, have better grip in the wet, and last longer. Interested in the views of others...

I also went Pilot Sport because I WILL track the car... so I plan to get a second set of rims for the car (not in gold to hide brake dust) and I will put on the Yokohama tires (or similar like the RE-71R's I've run to date if I can't get the sizes I need) instead for better performance and longevity on the track. The PSS will be better for street driving and broader temp ranges, and those will get replaced with PS4S when the time comes.

If you're not going to track the car, you literally can't beat the PS4S.

If you're car will see the street, and the occasional track day, PSS.

If your car is track only, Trofeo R. The Cup2 is a joke, it's terrible on the street, and only provides ultimate grip over the PSS for a short while. The Cup2R is better, but just MORE of the same.

You need to subscribe to Tyre Reviews on YouTube, fantastic information, and the guy is really good at spotting the exact differences in tires in a myriad of conditions.

How is Trofeo R longevity compared to the Advans or RE-71Rs (what I run now)?

I changed my order to PSS for a few reasons..

1. the 40+ degree storage and use requirement.
2. I live north of Boston and want to drive the car 9 months of the year.
3. See reasons 1 + 2.
4. Nov-Jan delivery.

I feel like an occasional track day, the app connectivity and what looks like pretty comparable tires you don't have to sign a waiver for are a better choice for me given the reasons above.

Yes, and the non-Cup2 tires will be PSS's (although there has been finger crossing that we'll see PS4S's instead)

Really can't complain either way.

Michelin PSS behaves better on the CS than on the OG M2. But slightly less good than the PS4S on a wet track.

The brighter the star...

The Trofeo is a peach of a tire, but certainly more aggressive than the aging 71R, and won't last nearly as long.

In fact, old as it is, the 71R is always my go-to if I need one set of tires for double duty. But that's foolish IMO. If you're really spending 50/50 time on road/track, you need 2 sets...

1. PS4S
2. Trofeo R

I'd heard PS4S aren't available on the CS for some reason. Is that not true? If they are available why would BMW not offer them as the delivered alternate to Cup 2's?

BMW doesn't have PS4S homologated on the M2 and by now they're not going to spend the money to do so.

The Pilot Slippery Sports are a fun tyre. I like them on the M2C. Lots of slippery fun and lots of communication.

I'm going for the new Cup 2 on the CS though being as it's a brand new tyre and was part of the development program of this car and the fact that there are no cold weather concerns where I live.
