I wish the M2 CS would be a manual "Three on the tree" !!!

Just kidding DCT all the way.

I might be all huff and puff on here about only purchasing the CS if it comes in a manual but given these two scenarios....I'd go with the S55 CS and never show my face around here again. :

If I had to go with DCT I'd probably get the RS3. It's ~$8K cheaper than an M2 all-in and optioned up here in Canada.

You keep saying this but as I recall there hasn't been any evidence yet. For such a contentious item that could very well affect people's decision to buy or not, I think caution should be exercized.

Tough call. Have the DCT in the M3 now, great for track and commuting but so many time when I get away from traffic I wish for a pedal and stick to row... Think I need to find somebody with an MT in the M2 that will let me drive it before my M2 slot comes up.

Won't take long anymore for official M2 CS release, after Autumn leaves have fallen.

In the meantime, let's all believe what we wanna believe.

Sure but perhaps do not state your opinion as fact or predictions as certainty. As a mod, people will likely read more into your statements than others.

Garage List
If these are the options this is an easy question to answer.
The current S55 sounds AWFUL!
I will only buy Manual.
If the CS is manual, i miiiiight be able to deal with an extreme constant wet-fart- sound coming from the hind quarters.
My solution to the problem is a Dinan tuned LCI 6MT in Mineral Grey. and a carbon fiber roof and possibly hood.

For a track focused car the DCT would be the only way to go for me. I won't be getting the CS, the vast majority of us won't so I don't know what value this debate is except to likely have another DCT versus manual debate. My opinion is everyone should buy what they want and don't need to justify their decision to anyone else. Owning a M2 with a DCT has made me a believer, my best buddy who is a hard core manual guy looked at me just yesterday after driving my M2 hard for 20 mins and said he couldn't make an argument for the manual in my car.

That looks like a stretch. All we know is someone at some point MAY have tested it. Pretty sure this was the same with the M4 CS.

Some M2 CS points to note so far:
  • BMW is testing M2 CS test mules with both M-DCT and 6MT (sources: here, here and here).
  • In an interview with Digital Trends (January 2017) BMW M CEO Frank Van Meel disclosed that manuals represent (worldwide) ± 20% of the M2 sales, which he considers to be "a lot" (source: here):
Q: Do you think BMW M will continue to offer cars with manual transmissions ? How long term do you think that will remain an option ?
A: Well, there are two ways of looking at manual transmissions. One is the engineering standpoint, which says it doesn’t really make sense. Even though it is lighter, it is slower, and the automated gearboxes have a better fuel consumption. So from an engineering standpoint, it does not make real sense. On the other hand, there’s this emotional thing. We still have a relevant amount of people that are wanting to drive a manual, especially on M2, M3, M4, especially in the U.S., but also worldwide. On the M2 we have a worldwide take rate for manual transmissions of about 20 percent, which is a lot. As long as the demand is there, we will stick to the manual gearboxes. We see strong shifts in the demand for manual gearboxes. In the M3 and M4, it went down from generation to generation to where it is right now, between 15 and 20 percent. It used to be over 50. So it’s going down, but now it’s stable. In the M5 and M6 it went down to almost zero, so we had to take the manual out because there was no demand whatsoever. But the answer is that as long as there’s a strong demand for manual gearboxes, we will try and have them available in our cars.
  • Pre-LCI M2 production data: more 6MT than M-DCT have been sold in the important USA & Canada market, unlike other markets (source: here):

This poll is total crap. Decision hinges entirely on whether CS gets M mirrors or not, not the damn engine and tranny.

Nah I don't buy it. Pretty sure the m4 cs tested a manual. And ultimately we haven't seen a single m2 cs test car yet in 6mt.
