Black Nylon Rivets

I was checking my M2 CS to add mud flaps to the front wheels. Right above the three 10mm rivets, there is a bigger one. And it is loose! I checked the other side and found the rivet on the other side is loose too. Do you have the same rivets on your M2 CS or M2C? I'll post some pictures to show what I mean. You can clearly see that gap on the 2nd & 3rd photos when I use the screw driver to push it up gently. German engineers usually do certain things for reasons, but what are these loose rivets for?

I can't hear them rattle but I'm going to put a rubber ring in between anyway. Those spare rubber rings for the power washer should do.

I noticed loose fittings when I washed this weekend. Both fronts were the same thing. I did not really inspect them.
Same as you describe..

I’m no engineer but can’t really get a tight fit with a plastic screw into plastic. What’s wrong with them being loose? They are still doing their jobs. Bmw has been using these fittings for a long time

What makes me wonder is, what jobs do they do? They are not fastening anything. They just 'hang' loosely on the plastic wheel arc with nothing else attached.

They create micro currents that enhance brake cooling and aerodynamics. Speed! It's all about speed!

Just checked and I have the same rivets and they are also loose. I have a box of different size rivets, maybe I can find something else that fits better.

I think you wll find that they are used to attach the small wheelarch extenders that are fitted on the European sold cars.
