Good luck! Been a long haul since we first picked out your car on the vin line!

Hope you get to enjoy it......

Good to hear there is progress in Canada. My car has been at Bavaria BMW in Edmonton for a couple weeks. I still havent heard anything back from SA or manager. But sounds like I should be expecting a call soon.

You should contact them and get on the priority list if you're already making payments.

Otherwise it's probably early September for new fixes.

Good to know there's a priority list. In the meantime I'm not making payments yet on the M2 and I can drive my current car (435) without mileage anxiety.

Would be nice to get my car now since there's only a couple months left before winter.

If you're not making payments or did ED, you won't be able to get on the priority list. Timeline for your fix is likely September, maybe October. Check with your dealer, they should know by now.

Also, for perspective, the first batch of priority parts was a whole 5...no joke, FIVE...differentials, missing the mounting nuts too which came a week later. So be prepared for a slow process.

OMG. Gave me hope and then shattered it on the same day. Hahaha.

Well the manager seemed really pressured to get my car off the lot. Its been sitting outside for awhile and I just made them park it in their parkade because of potential hail (prarie weather for ya).

So from the sounds of it I should just get ready for my winter tire set up.

You never know. I did not do ED, nor had I started making payments yet, but my dealership was able to expedite my repair. Car had been sitting at the dealership for exactly 4 weeks, while I was driving their loaner.

I keep repeating to myself "You have a free loaner. No car payment. You have a free loaner. You have a free loaner." And then I see a pic like this and it all goes out the window.

Someone posted this in the m3 forums to help track how long this process is taking for everyone. Great idea just enter some basic info:

Recall on diff

Hey Guys-- I have perused this thread, but I'm not sure if anyone has asked/answered whether this affects drive-ability of the vehicle?

I am finalizing the purchase of a used M2 and the VIN has been checked and it's one of the ones affected. I have an e34 and until recently an e46 M3, so I have zero experience with an electronic rear-diff. Not sue if I can still drive the car, while I wait for my turn for it to be replaced, or what?

Thx.

Are you buying it as a CPO? If yes the dealer probably won't let you drive it until the fix due to delivery stop.

It is not a safety issue for now - mostly noise and rough operation. At 10-15K miles however, there is potential for gear and/or clutch pack failure.

What I'm curious about is why this specific period of time? Were the differentials different before this? The July 4th date might explain why no cars were produced for a period of time between June 24th and the second week of July.
Could be a million reasons that don't involve design changes to the engineering of the diff.

1. New vendor used for piece parts that go in the diff, and this batch has parts from the new vendor.

2. Original vendor machined some parts with a batch of material that has been found to be faulty for one reason or another.

3. Original vendor changed their process in a bad way without notifiying BMW, and now BMW found out.

I wouldn't worry about it.

Seems like the daily chatter in this thread has subsided. Is it safe to assume the repairs are now happening at the VPC and cars are being delivered?

My M2 went into production last week (on schedule) so I'm curious to know if I'll be facing a logjam once it hits the VPC in NJ late Sept / early Oct.
