Did anyone here cross Shop their M2C with the M240i?

I find myself in this position right now.

I had a manual M2C before but now considering either a DCT M2C or a G42 Zf8 M240i as my "daily".

the way I see it

M2C>M240i in looks, motorsport feel and engine, handling
M240i>M2C in ride quality, all weather capability, newer with longer warranty

so basically the enthusiast in me is saying go M2C whereas the practical me is shouting M240i

anyone else face this and why did you choose M2C in the end?

unfortunately not, if I was it would be m240i no question since my enthusiast self would be kept happy by the GTS.

I had a deposit on a MY22 M240i. After I realized the allocation would be pushed to 2023 and include the big screen, I cancelled the order and picked up a 2019 M2C. I would not have been happy with the big screen no matter how well the car performed. After driving the M2C it was clear to me that I would keep the car as long as possible. Too mich fun.

lol - full circle I guess. Get the M2! Coming up on 5 years for me, no regrets. Don’t think I would have held onto the m240 this long.

I really enjoy my 2018 M2 OG as a daily and weekend track toy. Does great with winter tires on the stock wheels, heated seats and steering wheel. With the Comp car, you get the adaptive suspension that should smooth out the ride compared to the OG. Not sure how much fuel mileage matters to you, but the G42 has the upper hand for sure. For me, it would be M2C hands down. I always have a smile walking out to a wide body M car.

Hmm. Slight correction. The M2C has the same suspension as the OG M2. Neither has adaptive suspension.

I have a 228x (the F22) and also an M2comp. Unless you are going to track it, I'd go for the M240. It's essentially the 'sports GT' version of the M2 - a touch more comfortable (OK a LOT more comfortable), and really similar performance until you get up to the limit on track. But real answer is you should test drive them both because feel is more important than any specs.

I have test driven both
and also went from a 2018 BMW m240i to a 2020 M2 Comp

the G42 is on another level handling and platform wise from the F22, I could tell that right away when I drove it, it felt much more composed, planted than the f22, a much more premium feel to it
drivetrain wise it felt pretty much the same (more power but heavier than the f22)

the M2 comp has a playfulness to it that the G42 lacks
S55 also has a more motorsport feel to it in the way it revs and sounds


no doubt the M2 comp is the car that will feed the passion more

but I struggle with giving up the all weather capability, better ride and clearance for those rare moments that I can really drive the M2C in a spirited way

I also hate the hassle of seasonal tire changes and would avoid that in the m240i if I went with really good all seasons...

so basically the practical side: M240I
enthusiast: M2 comp

I obviously want to be the enthusiast, but will I regret it when I have to worry about driving somewhere in case it snows more than anticipated, feel the rougher ride on the horrible roads, have trouble with certain driveways, and have to book the seasonal tire changeover!

Really depends on the weather and roads you'll drive on. I drive my M2C year long (granted I'm not driving on snow or ice) and its as practical as any other car I have. Yes, I swap wheels twice a year and It takes 10 minuted per corner, but also gives me an opportunity to deep clean the wheels and ceramic coat them. Its really the perfect car for me, and now driving any of my other cars is boring and feel too soft, floaty, underpowered...I dont think I can go backwards

I had a F22 m240i prior to my m2 comp and the 240i was defintely easier to live with than the M2 comp, better ride, better clearance, did fine in snow with all seasons.

but I definitely enjoyed driving the m2 comp more!

Those are things that will happen maybe 10 days a year. The other 355 you will be enjoying the car. Don’t let a few days of aggravation prevent you from enjoying all the other days of the year.

You’ve mentioned the weather a few times. It’s not that much of a hassle to have a dedicated set of winter wheels and swap out twice a year. And you’re less compromised than if you were to put “all-seasons” (read: no-seasons) on the AWD car. If you experience a real winter, the AWD and non-winter tires are not going to be great when braking.

I can pretty much pick my battles when it comes to driving in snow/winter conditions, hence I can get away with all seasons on an awd

it worked fine with my f22 m240i

when you go M2C you need to do the 2 sets of tires and rims even if you are going to venture out at all in the winter,

I do find the changeovers quite the hassle, I appreciated those 2 seasons with the m240i where I didn't have to worry about the changeover.
