Exhaust Setup C parts

Can I buy competition exhaust/midpipe set ups for the CS?
Lots of these CS counterparts are out of stock

I have a second hand Akra mid pipe and muffler on my CS from a Comp.

From a Turn 14 inquiry email years ago:

“Both exhaust systems are the same. They will fit both cars. The only difference is the electronics. The Comp kit comes with a receiver control unit for the valves. The CS also has valves but it seems to be a more "PnP" which doesn't involve a separate controller that ties into the factory system.”

I have the comp controller sitting in a box. I chose to install the CG Percision controller instead that is linked to the homelink buttons.

The comp and cs share the same fitment. Downpipes are the same between f8x.

Yes.

When I got my CS, the very first thing I did was swap the entire Active Autowerke midpipe, connector pipes and axleback over from my Comp.

Do you have the EL midpipe or the straight one? And which axleback?

EL midpipe with the valved axleback and resonated connecting pipes.

But I must admit that I'm not overly thrilled with the exhaust and wouldn't buy it again. Dont get me wrong, it sounds great. However, the fitment of all the provided pipes are questionable, at best. It required getting an exhaust shop involved to add some custom welds to make it all fit together properly.

I'll spare you the details of my months long headache with it (both on the Comp and CS). But if I were to do it again, I'd buy an exhaust from a brand like AWE or Valvetronic, who use proper slip joints and higher quality clamps.

Another data point. The shop that installed my Akrapovic setup said it was one of the easiest systems they've ever installed. It bolted right up. You can't even really adjust the exhaust tips.

Were the issues mainly with the AA exhaust?

I do have the EL with cats available in my fs thread. I mean $1600+ even with BF discount is still high in my eyes.

Yes. The EL midpipe is solid, with excellent fitment. The AA axleback on the other hand, is not. Fitment is garbage with the provided connector pipes and the internal valves make an obnoxious tingy rattle when the car is started with the valves shut.

I was able to mitigate the fitment issues by having a shop custom weld the connections between the axleback and connector pipes, changing the angles to give much better fitment. But the tingy rattle at startup can't be fixed. Only solution is to use a valve controller to force the valves open. But those open valve cold starts (even with resonated pipes) get REAL loud.

If you like the overall tone, the EL midpipe with OEM axleback is great. The OEM axleback is just a bit to raspy for me. But many love it.

I have EL midpipe I’m removing from my CS tomorrow. If anyone is interested in it, I’m in Texas and will sell it for $900 if you need it shipped. I’ll give you box dimensions and weight to get a quote.
