So even in lockdown you're able to go for a drive? I suppose if you got stopped you could say you're going to get groceries...just don't tell them the store you're going to is 100 miles away

The media does routinely blow things out of proportion but this is a serious situation. If they don't manage to slow the wave of this epidemic in the US, they'll be digging mass grave burial sites like they've done in Iran. We may all get it eventually, but if everyone gets it at the same time it will throw the world into total chaos. The denial of certain news outlets and leaders at the top have contributed to the slow roll out of defensive measures in a timely manner. This is not the first Pandemic and it won't be the last. People always stick their heads in the sand until the bodies pile up and start to smell.

Now I'm going to go out and enjoy a blast in the twisties in the solitude of my beast and just hope that we have started defensive measures in time.

Anyways, back to the topic at hand. I'm still debating pushing back my delivery, but some recent posts in the Hockenheim picture thread have conviced me that C33 looks better with black/carbon mirror caps. Just waiting for deals to pop up for a nice set. I'm way to cheap to spend 1k on the MP versions...

The "lockdown" here, at least, consist of preventing all non-essential businesses and employers from congregating; the public streets are still open for our disposals and racing needs.

However, the news literally changes by the hour, so come back and check me in a day and I might have a different story..

"A chain is only as strong as its weakest link." That weak link in this analogy are all those that are not listening, don't care or are too foolish to comprehend what's going on. Virus > Humans

Just went for a good drive today and got some corners not possible/safe with everyday traffic. Stay safe and enjoy your cars!

Those restrictions are only to slow the progression of the virus so that it does not overwhelm the medical system all at once. This is the only way to currently mitigate the fatality rate. People are going to die from this, how many is up to each of you.
And back on topic...Morning therapy, I took a very nice drive this morning to nowhere. Enjoyed a few nice roads and tail slides. Nothing but smiles. Still love this car and it provided a much needed break from the current events.
Absolutely agree with everything written above. Except... I can no longer go for those drives to nowhere and I cannot smile. I'm too f--king scared. I have completely stopped watching the news. It simply makes me cry. Those images from Italy. I have close friends in the UK and I'm really worried they are going to get hit hard.
I'm a huge fan of Brian May (lead guitarist for Queen) and on his website (BrianMay.com) he's been posting MicroConcertos for coronavirus therapy. A silver lining in each cloudy day for me.
Stay safe and healthy my Bimmer friends.

C33?
C33 is the BMW paint code for Hockenheim Silver Metallic.

In general: BMW paint codes: see here.

Neighbors all sang Bon Jovi from their windows yesterday. Caught me totally off guard. Was cringing the whole time.

Terrible situation overall with what is happening. However, if there is a silver lining, I bet car enthusiasts everywhere are enjoying this time. Can't imagine how great some of the best driving roads are right now with virtually no traffic.

Had mild freezing rain all this morning! Had planned on a nice therapy drive, but was cancelled due to weather! But we are all still healthy.

Stay healthy and safe from the virus. I did take a twenty five minute drive. It felt great but I thought of all those not doing well.

In several countries, states and cities, leaving your house for non-essential / unauthorized reasons is strictly prohibited now. Ratio: containing the virus - limiting the chances of contamination. If you get caught violating this prohibition, you risk a fine and jail time.

True. It is insane. We had bushfires and then floods to start the year.

New research has found that the smoke from the bushfires caused approximately 417 deaths and thousands of hospitalizations between October 2019 and February 2020

Exactly what you need to prepare your lungs for the respiratory disease to follow.

Removed a couple of controversial comments about China (pro/con).

Feel free to post those in dedicated threads in the politics section (for example here).

Dear forum fellow, that's definitely not worth the risk, for you and others.
Look at the magnitude of what's unfolding in Italy, Spain and elsewhere in Europe right now. How things are spiraling out of control. If you fancy playing Russian Roulette, mind you, because more than one chamber of the gun is loaded with a bullet. The coronavirus does its ontological thing: it goes viral. And it does not negotiate - it multiplies exponentially and is capable of killing you, injure you or at least make you feel miserable for some time. And it will also make you feel bad that you likely contributed to infecting others.
Forget any post I ever posted on Bimmerpost - just observe this one. Change the future: hunker down, now.

As known, looking at the stars is a look back in time (see here). The same applies to looking at COVID-19 statistics: because of the incubation period (the period between exposure to COVID-19 and the appearance of the first symptoms), the figures reflect contamination of one or two weeks ago, rather than current real-time contamination as we speak (which is worse). Positive results of tight measures taken today, will only be reflected in future statistics. Keep that in mind. Hence, the sense of urgency: time is of the essence.
Latest stats for the US (source: here): 41,708 confirmed cases - 573 deaths
(total worldwide: 372,563 confirmed cases - 16,381 deaths - 100,885 recovered)
