Once again, it's shameful for some journalist to make manual vs DCT race. There is no point in doing that as you don't know how many times get lost in shifting, which is normally many.
Ummm, no. The other cars are all upper 11 second cars at their best, just like the DCT M2 is a mid 12 second car at its best. All four of these cars ran slower than normal on this day, in this test. I do agree they should have used a DCT M2 though.

I feel the M5 & M6 underperformed in the videos. But it was fun to watch. Thanks for posting

To be fair, among the overwhelming praises, there was first some critic of E9X being heavier than previous generation, which is perfectly legitimate. But fact is, steering is fine, 4.0 V8 is fascinating (then) and gearbox (DCT gen1 vs SMG) is a huge improvement. Not until 1M came out, had people come to realize what it really means to a M car to have a right size/wheelbase. The turbocharged 1M was considered "more fun" due to the size and balance.

Other than these critics, E9X M3 has been consistently compared to 911 WITH S in every aspect (nobody today seriously does that with F80/82 gen), is still easily rated as the annual best car by C&D and MT.

M2 today is a refined 1M, while M3/4 is a different car than E9X, with a huge step off M track. That's even the prevailing opinion inside BMW, but there is little they can do to change that because everything should be based on long wheelbase 3 series. I took HPDE training on Aug 20 at Shanghai F1 racetrack and met Cl**s (I'm not supposed to publicize his name), a senior BMW HPDE global trainer/manager, who spoke in private on M car:
"Well...it's probably my age coming into play, I prefer older generations of M cars. From current lineup, it is the 1M and M2 that represents M the best in my opinion". BTW, this man felt sorry for me because he thought I have a M4.
when the E92 M3 came it got plenty negatives, steering wheel feel, it got too big and then when the 1M came out still alongside the E9X, that was the next criticism. It's the real M3.

i should explain the criticisms year by year but i thought you'd get what i meant.

And the E46 folks did nothing but disparage the E9X M3 kinda like you, an E9X M3 owner who still doesnt get the appeal of the F8X and why it's better. lol

The M2 is overrated.

There are plenty of non-owners that voice that opinion also. There are also voices on the other side such as yourself. I do not think this is a clear cut issue because of subjective preferences.

Yeah, I was utterly amazed that the M4's 3 litre twin turbo 6 beat the M5/M6 4.4 Litre twin turbo v8's.

Something is seriously amiss here. Are the M5 & M6 really _that_ heavy?

Agreed. There's a huge difference between the drag race and the roll race... I call BS on the M4 having that much lag.

Keep reinforcing the stereotype “Dirty Jersey”. Should I make any guesses to the typical person who would include “Dirty Jersey” as their name?

Clown who still lives at home with their parents. And if they don’t they’re in some shitty apartment because their $1,200 car lease won’t let them buy anything. But “cars is life” in Jersey so you have a false narrative of success to portray.

You probably work at some shitty sub shop but have dreams of becoming a stock broker or real estate agent or some other job your type dreams about. When is the next series 7 license test coming? Time to study yet?

You juicing Bro? Probably. Voted for Trump? Probably. Need to belong? Most certainly.

Your M3 is the only thing of value you own. Besides that watch that you also can’t afford. But it sure looks good on the Shore during the summer.

Almost time to put the winter tires on and go snow boarding brooooooo!

I know your type well. Dirty. And judging by your Avatar you love accusing other people of lying in order to make yourself feel better See how stereotypes work?

And get over yourself with the M3 you clown. The new house IS the reason for the M3 for me. I had to be talked down to it. Otherwise I’d be shooting higher.

Clown.

Who wins in depreciation curve? Looks like it would be the exact opposite order of performance results.

Better for me

But M2 is faster at Hockenheim Short.

AWD for an M2? Would be out of balance. M2 has best practical balance of any current M car.

Around the track the F80 spanks the Goolia sport.

It's sad most car journos cant get the M3 in the 11's as so many amateurs have in worst than ideal DA's.
For some reason your post made me think of the wedding singer

As I posted previously, the 3 DCT transmissions are in "D" or automatic mode for the roll race. The delay in acceleration stems from the time it takes for the transmissions to downshift. A pretty pointless exercise IMO, especially when comparing to a 6MT that is in the right gear.

Okay, so tell me how a 600hp M5 got rounded up in a 1/4 mile sprint by a 425hp M4?

I mean, sure, around a track the the M5 is 300kg heavier which would hurt a bit; but in a straight line over a 1/4 mile - 300kg would be more than offset by 175hp.

I'm calling it - that video is total BS.
