So my local dealer recommended that while I wait for the MPE, that I reach out to AWE to confirm they still have no interest in the m2c even though it's getting the S55. I know I saw plenty of posts about people reaching out when it had the N55 and they weren't planning and obviously didn't do an exhaust for it. I'm only about 40 minutes from their HQ and I absolutely loved everything they did to my s4. I get compliments constantly with the touring exhaust they put on.

Is that a large M2C dingleberry?

I could be wrong, but I'm not so certain that the MPE will actually appear the same color, as-is, in the picture above?

This image makes the MPE appear darker for some reason. It could have been photo-shopped for appearances? My guess is that its color will appear like the stock stainless steel muffler, but it will have the attractive and bold [M Performance] logo to help mitigate the "stark empty color contrast space" of the large SS stock muffler.

The MPE would really look trick if BMW treated the steel so that it revealed a black patina color. That would be a good complement to the Carbon Fiber diffuser and tips.

Whatever, the sound will be the best part!

I agree. This video is the best shot I've seen of it. 2:17 in specifically.

And just to follow up on AWE, I spoke with them this morning. The m2c is on their radar but no development plans as of right now because of the initial production run numbers. I did my best to lobby on the m2C's behalf as I told him I think the BMW staggered release is just to drive hype and I wouldn't be shocked if there are more of them on the road in the US in 2019 than they were expecting. I also told him because of the OPF and belly tank, it's likely a higher percent of m2c owners will be looking for an after market exhaust than the m3/m4 owners. Especially if the MPE on this is delayed into next year and there is some sticker shock when it is released.

They have my info as I told them I'd be a willing, paying participant as a test car. I'll post here if I do get that call.

Any idea on what sort of paint could be applied to mask it and when should we expect aftermarket exhausts to be offered?
High temperature flat black engine block paint would do wonders in camouflaging that 55 gallon barrel hanging out from under bumper cover

In finalizing my order I inquired about the MPE for the M2C. My sales guy insists that the BMW MPE is manufactured by Akropovic?? Is this legit?

I swore someone posted they heard the MPE would be available in the US later this year (October/November). Am I making this up? I'm failing with my search terms trying to find the post I remember. Curious where that poster heard the timing.

Most client advisors are clueless and don't hesitate to spread the false information. They don't even bother to read at least some forums or automative news sites to educate themselves little more. There are very few of them who are enthusiasts and they are very up-to-date on their stuff. However, those an exception and hard to come by.

It's supposed to be available in September in US according to the M Performance Parts sticky thread.

Can't wait. It's the first thing I'm doing when I get my car, provided the price isn't stupid expensive.

Does anyone know how the OEM valves actuate? In the closed setting, do they open under load or above a certain RPM?

Or is closed actually closed?

Will the MPE be available from factory for North American orders? I heard the clip of the MPE on the M4 and it sounds amazing!

If you mean as port install then yes. Factory doesn't install MPE. You can order MPE with your car but they will install it at the port.

Sorry for my ignorance but does port install mean dealership?

No, when your car arrives at a port in the US, it's first handled by BMW Vehicle Distribution Center (VDC) before it's transported it to your dealer. VDC is the place that does the "port install" for M performance parts.

I would be very cautious about how a person goes about painting the muffler. This is going to require a bit more experience than the guy down at Auto Zone.

The cleaning and preparation should be considerable. The muffler should be removed and masked. The paint used should be of a very high grade. Possibly a special primer may be necessary to get a good chemical bond.

Don't be, That Guy!
