In the first portion of the video, was the car in comfort or sport/sport+?

Can't say. My car, but that ain't me in the video. It's a friend doing some soft pulls (he asked me in advance - I was abroad at that time). As he didn't climb too high in the revs, hard to say.

This mode allows the injectors to dump more fuel leaving excess fuel in the downpipe and exhaust, being hot, it ignited and makes burbles, that's why as soon as you off throttle in mid RPM range it burbles, but when you rev is very high, no burbles as the engine will not have excess fuel to burn in the exhaust as its all consumed whilst enabling a higher engine speed.

Downpipe isn't accommodating any ignition event being downstream of turbine housing, the hot side of turbo.

Fuel is ignited in the exhaust manifold or turbofold, upstream of turbine.

That's why you will see much often with a NA car fire breathed out of its tailpipe - fire gets out much easier without turbo in the way.

I’m not sure it’s so much fuel being ignited in the manifold. Because I get the loudest pops and bangs when the car is cold. It’s some very smart DME mapping

If traction mode is engaged, you're good to go. It's loudest after first 3-5 minutes.

Go into first gear review up to 3k and release the throttle, same things in second or third.

Put your windows down a bit.

After installing two weeks ago the latest firmware on my '17 DCT EU spec, the car have lost almost totally the typical burbling-popping that it did before.
It's a shame but in compensation it runs better and even a bit faster.

I have a 2018 M2 with M Performance exhaust. When I select traction mode, I can hear gun shots when after I lift my foot from the throttle at about 3500 rpm

You guys have to go to Sports +
And get to 4,000 RPM then WOT all the way until roughly 4,700 - 4,800 RPM.
Not over, and then let off throttle, and you will all hear massive backfire from the exhaust.
May take a few times, over 4,800 RPM and it wont backfire. Give it a shot and let me know what you all think

The backfire can also be achieved in SPORT mode as well. Preferably in 2nd gear and can do just even 75% throttle lifting off as many times are u want just below 5k RPM (don't know exact RPM) to manipulate the backfire consistently. Another easy way is when you downshift from 3rd to 2nd but make sure the REV match doesn't blip the RPM too high otherwise it won't backfire.

Also with the FABSPEED downpipe installed it can create a double backfire when u get aggressive.
