The M2 is a much more exciting car than the M4 and that pisses off a lot of the fanboys so they focus on mirrors and other nonsense |

Amazing car, really. I think it will be the real deal 'driver's car'. The size of the car, weight, chasis and power are a brutal combination. Another marvel from M..

The weight is brutal. I'll agree with that.

Agreed ! It appears that the US weight has been correct all along. The M2 EU weight is now shown as 1570-1595 kg as opposed to the The 1M EU weight of 1495 Kg. As some of us were afraid of/ aware of that means this car is 75 Kg-100kg (165 -220 lbs ) heavier than its predecessor, from a company touting an efficient dynamics mantra. It's still going to be a helluva car; but it's a shame that this car didn't manage to weigh less, particularly when the brochure for it shows it on track with the 1252 Kg E30 M3 and the 1495Kg 1M. What it will be, is more of an impact on more buyers than the 1M , due to higher production figures and more creature comforts like power seats and DCT. It also cries for the CSL/GTS treatment. |

If I actually cared about this I would. But I don't give a damn about the mirrors at all. I wouldn't even have noticed if it's not for the forum talking about it on every few posts. Also, I do not recall having M specific mirror on my X5M. And did M mirrors make my various M3s, M4 and M5 better cars? No. It's a pointless styling exercise. |

I just read through the brochure again. It seems you have your choice of 4 exterior colors and MT6 or DCT. That's it. Old school...

Also, the climate control on the F2x models used to be orange-only, but is now two-color (white at daylight, orange at night; like the instrument cluster). It's a step in the right direction, at least. I could still do without the orange at night. Quote:
M2: https://www.bmw.de/de/neufahrzeuge/M...che-daten.html (1570kg as well with the manual transmisson; 1595kg with DCT) If you substract the 75kg "driver+luggage" that's included in the EU weight, you end up at 1495kg (for both cars). |

FWIW: The base cars (135i and M235i) weigh exactly the same as well, at 1530kg EU. http://www.bmw.com/com/de/newvehicle...ata/index.html https://www.bmw.de/de/neufahrzeuge/2...en.html?uncert (earlier model years of the 135i were a bit heavier at 1560kg EU - source) |

After watching the interview with head of M Division, M mirrors are part of the overall M experience. And he referred to them as M Mirrors. Look for YouTube TFL all you needed to know about the M3/4.

We'll see when someone puts these cars on a scale. Including the 75kg driver/luggage in the cars weight is stupid, but at least EU weight is normed, so weights can be compared. US curb weight can also be a "manufacturer estimate" AFAIK. Also keep in mind that US cars usually have much more standard equipment - just look at the M235i for example: Sunroof? Electric seats? Automatic transmission? Those are all heavy options which are standard in the US but not in Germany for example. |
