Wait it out, the second these things drop so will the price of current m2's.. ($20k for OG M2) don't waste your money right now specking out a car that rides on a 5 year old chassis
You're in the market for an M2c now. Why wait 2 plus years. M2c is fantastic. You only live once enjoy today and worry about the new model when it comes out.
lol that's why I still own my e92 M3

I hope the G87 M2 doesn't have the fake side vent that the current M2 has. Never understood why BMW thought that fake was better than functioning!

The new M3 is 5 inches longer than the current F80 and significantly more weight.

We need an M2 gran coupe in M2 size.

That's like saying the m8, m4 and the m2 are the same.

The M3 is much larger but I suppose you could say just get an f80. What I really want is something the size of the m2/e46. Like how Audi has the rs3, but that doesn't have the drive train I want. Maybe some day I'll get the sedan e36 m3 but obviously it's quite old now.

Ahh I get what you're saying now, I mainly meant a 4 door s55 m2 is basically an f80 M3 but if you mean the exact same size as the m2 I hear you!

The 4 door version would be based on the 2GC - would you like a transverse, 4 cylinder, no 6MT, M235i-based M model of that?

Thought so.

Only way this could happen would be using hybrid technology. The upcoming 2-door 2er is already the CLAR-based snowflake here, solely catering to the G87 - there's no way BMW will develop a bespoke 4-door G87 variant now that they went FAAR with the 2GC.

You say that, but BMW is the company that gave us: a 4-door 3-series, a 4-door 3-series GT, a 4-door 4-series GC and a 2-door 4-series all on sale at the same time. I’m not entirely sure this company understands the concept of “redundancy.”

I mean honestly, can anyone tell me what the difference was between the M5 and M6 GC? They have the exact same drivetrain, are built on the same platform and have the same number of doors. They just designed two bodies for the same car and then charged 20k more for whichever one they decided was better looking.

Well, in Daytona Beach I have met few challengers that can keep up with the M2C on the roadways . . . HOWEVER, there is a guy in a M5 Competition that routinely gives me a run for my money. The M5C has some giddy-up.

Those were all based on the 3er (4/4GC) or the LWB 3er (3GT) or, well, the 2 series, just with a different body put over them. I doubt somebody wants a 4-door 2 series car with the G87 wheelbase in 2022+, so it would have to be a completely new model/development.

Also, all of the above were volume models, the 4GC and 3GT didn't have an M version. Clearly BMW already has the 4-door 2 series volume model (the current 2GC), so they would have to develop the 2MGC just for the M car. That's not unthinkable at the high end, but I really can't see it happen at the low end.

I took a new M2C for a test drive today, with the intention of buying it. Drives awesome, 6 speed MT was fluid, and the Long Beach blue is killer in the sun. I can appreciate its track worthiness over my M235, but for general burning around highways and an occasional launch, I just couldn't justify the $62k, while owning my FBO dialed in car. Think I'll just be happy until the new one comes out.

Boy, it really looks like it shares a platform with the Z4/Supra in profile. Long hood, short trunk. Hope it keeps the practicality of the current car. Not much room for rear seats back there.

The F87 is 176" in length. I don't see the G87 getting smaller. if anything it'll probably grow 3-4".
