DCT clunk/noise
Hey guys,
I'm new here (first post ) and wanted to ask if anyone else has a clunking noise at low speeds when changing low gears (mostly 1st to 2nd etc and less than 15mph)....might be my imagination but seems to happen when changing from manual back to auto mode. Sounds like I've run over an empty can of coke Wondered if there's a solenoid changing the gears that I'm hearing?? Reading some of the M3 DCT threads it seems it's common and 'normal' but wondered if I should be worried? There's no leaks, CEL or losses so not really an issue. Carly hasn't thrown any codes either. Only had the car a couple of weeks and my first DCT. Any help advice greatly appreciated. Thanks Last edited by LoganBryce; 06-21-2022 at 05:18 PM.. |

Pretty sure it's normal. I have a manual, and sometimes sitting at a stop light and when I engage into first, I can hear a clunk as well. Pretty sure it has to do with the differential.

See my comments in this thread. If that describes the sound you're hearing, then unfortunately it's normal.

Light clunk or thud when DCT changes gear is normal, but shouldn't sound like running over cans. |
