Finished watching it. Nothing at all in this video says anything about it being broken, or it being broken soon. He said literally the same thing every other tuner has said, and PTF has been saying for fucking ever...

"confident it will be broken at some point"

So yeah.. Good podcast, but thats it. Theres nothing new here.

Maybe I read too much into "weeks and months" and "if those companies decide to lock things down" and "but there will always be loopholes"..... Time will tell but apologies for being overly-positive I guess

I spoke to head of Sales at G-Power in Germany over whatapp and he told me they can tune my car but I have to come to them. Thay have two CS's black and white, one of them has the latest ECU and they have tuned it. He said they are only 40Ks from the M research centre and have friends there... So if no one cracks it I'll driving to Germany once lock down ends. He also sent me vids of their deep tone exhaust which I think I'll be getting as it sounds the best out of any I've heard.

Maybe with a piggy back...
Keep in mind, the first CS‘s were fitted with the older DME generation.

Yep this.

Don't want to be a naysayer, but believe it when someone here is able to purchase a tune, with the new ECU, and it works. Until then, grain of salt.

Sorry if I came off harsh in my post.
There have just been one too many "soon" posts over the last 2 years for me to keep a positive outlook on things.

I called Carbahn today and it confirmed via my VIN that my 8/20 build came with the new encrypted ECU. I’m out of luck for a tune until it’s cracked. Carbahn said they expect it in a few months...which it said a few months ago.

Will do. In the meantime I'll put the $1,500 into buying my old Les Paul back from my buddy. It's time for it to come back home after 24 years

More chance of a tune on that than a new ECU

Why is this concept so hard to understand? This entire thread is about post July 2020 DMEs and their inability so far to be tuned even by bench unlocking. A pre-August 2020 build requires bench unlocking but it can be tuned to your heart's desire. This isn't rocket science here kids. Focus.

this thread is about later cars, with physically different hardware. not the late 2019 cars with a software update. there are other thread about the issue you are talking about.

this does not apply to this thread. the bench unlock is discussed in the very long bootmod s55 thread.

this thread is regarding a new bosche ECU that makes all late 2020 and beyond cars completely untunable, even with a bench unlock.

see original post.

I've tried to keep this thread on target, but it seems it keeps drifting back to the bench unlock issue every page. lol

Alright so; what's up with Manhart etc. Do they receive unlock codes from BMW directly? Certain tuners seem to have their programs running on the G8x.

This is a real bummer, now that I've actually gone through it all. This isn't another "new platform, need time to research" situation. Sounds like some serious security that I doubt will ever be flashable from OBD port.

They probably just got an old m2c DME and programmed it to the car. That works no problem.

I actually just purchased a pre-2020 S55 DME to do this.
