3.5k at 80? Wish my s2000 cruised anything that relaxed at 80... did a round trip nyc la road trip with top down whole way - was significantly harder of hearing afterwards. And more tan.
Best roads by a wide margin were in Colorado and Utah. My buddy’s back there roadtrippin his 308 GTB. Just reached telluride from ouray. |

Great choice.
However, I must warn you. Every time I drive my MY21, I feel like I'm going to die. I don't care what anyone says, this car is just too damn fast. At least it feels that way. Like, I'm barely touching the throttle - even in efficient mode - and see triple digits instantly. WTF? Still learning how to not get arrested with this car. Wish there was a de-tune available.. |

This car is all about driving... so i prefer to put money on autosolution ssk, ultimate clutch pedal, mcs coilover, lighter wheels, sticky tires etc.... For downsizing the wheels to 18 inch, i know racing brakes sell a 380mm x 36 front rotor pair that come with a caliper bracket.... that way you keep oem caliper and are able to run 18 inch wheels I would love that girodisc offer the sane conversion, i sent them an email about this but did not get any answer. I don't know if it's that simple but they could take a 380x36 rotor ring that they already sell and bolt it on a bmw m2 rotor center........then just maje the caliper bracket and done |

I just got mine one month ago. At the risk of sounding a bit argumentative I would say don't worry about sound and highway driving. It's all relative based on what you're accustomed to as your current DD. The gearing is fine on all accounts. I've taken calls at various speeds including highways and it's perfectly fine as others can hear me and I can hear them. Plus efficient mode with at partial throttle acceleration offers a pleasant driving experience, especially in the manual when you don't ring out the gears at WOT. If comfort and noise are the tops on your list it may not be the best choice out there. I'm driving S2000s so the M2C in manual is so refined in comparison and way quieter. In the end the choice for me to purchase one was all about performance so louder ambient noise in the cabin was not something I cared about but maybe for you it's essential. Just buy the manual and support the cause.

You can always install an ASD by-pass or code it out. I installed the by-pass and my car is much quieter in the cabin without all of the fake engine noise being piped in.

I just did a long highway trip in my M2C with DCT. 350 miles each way.
The 7 speed DCT has the advantage on the highway, lower RPMs and better MPG. It was OK for calls but certainly not 5 series quiet (my other car at the time). I've not done the fender weather strip enhancement but may still do that. Sport mode does give a noticeably louder exhaust, but comfort mode is more quiet and less drone on the highway.

Racing brake 380x36mm was tried with bmw f80 m3 513m 18 inch wheels and it was close but it clear the caliper
He also tried the 18 inch 763m for racing that are 18x10 i think....also it was tight fit but it clear. In fact, the oem brake and wheels have a very tight fit and doesn't have a lot of clearance, it's pretty close.... If you choose a 18 inch wheels with great caliper clearance you'll be more than ok Apex wheels will easily clear 380mm brakes, the forged one have more clearance than the regular Etc.... |

Interesting comments about the freeway speed noise. Everyone has different preferences I've come to realize. You really need to test these things out for yourself.

https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1609408 I contacted the guy who did this conversion with the racing brakes rotor 380x36mm.... he run them for track for 2 set of rotors, first was just ok and the other set cracked in fews weeks Overall he wasn't happy with the quality and switch back to oem rotor size with 400x 36mm Girodisc front rotor That's the reason why the same kit 380x36mn with bracket but with girodisc rotor would be perfect Still waiting for an answer from girodisc |

Ha. I was driving my X5 45e on the way home today and while on the phone with my wife she asked when I was leaving the office. The X5 is so quiet it has no noticeable noise in the cabin at all. In the M2 it's a much louder cabin.

Thanks man. So it looks like swapping the fronts with the StopTech kit is the best option at this point..

Neither brand will fail and will perform just as well on the track. Options: StopTech front BBK: $2400 ST60 or $2895 STR60 AP Racing front BBK: $4400 9660 or $4800 9668 The prices above are quotes I received this past week from buybrakes.com(StopTech) and Essexparts.com(AP Racing) Edit: Or just stick with 19"s and get wheels with better clearance.... I guess

The foam door inserts will help with wind and engine mechanical noise. Also as was already mentioned switching to comfort mode will decrease ASD cabin drone substantially. Cabin noise isn't a reason to pass on the M2. You can also buy the hood insulation liner that is standard on the 2 series. Other sound insulation panels from the 2 series can be installed which would make the interior like a tomb if that's what floats your boat.
