So it seems to be another proof of abnormality of your transmission.
Synchro is the most possible cause of the symptom but is there a possibility that your clutch is not fully disengaged even you step on the clutch pedal?

Update for those who care. Attempted to change the trans fluid today. Ended up stripping the fill plug so I'll be taking it to an indy shop to have it fixed. I have no garage and a very limited set of tools so this seems like the best course of action. I might just have them change the fluid while the car is lifted.

As much as I want to believe this, it seems unlikely. I've been experimenting with the way I shift and really, 1-2 and 2-3 seem to be the biggest issue. All other shifts are okay.

FIXED
Another update. Got the fluid changed. There's a noticeable improvement.
2-3 still feels notchy and so does 3-4. Sometimes second gear can give me trouble but it's infrequent. Had my friend drive it again and he repeated what he said the first time, which is "it feels normal bro" Based on what he's saying + what I've been feeling since the change, I think it's safe to say the transmission is fine. This is my first manual, my first BMW manual, and I think this is just how the gearbox is if I'm being honest. I only intend on having this car for a year or two since life is too short for just one car, so I'm not going to worry about it. The car is essentially in immaculate condition, completely stock, and the shop I took it to said it's driving great. Last edited by SS687; 03-19-2023 at 07:03 PM.. Reason: clarity |

I had the same issues you described and the AutoSolutions SSK solved the problem.
I know you intend to keep the car 1-2 years, however, if you want to have more pleasure driving car then I would consider getting the AS SSK. |

Is it possible he's got one of those bumper (stop) and he's go too much washers on it?
Notchy is also about how I would describe the shifting on the M2. Gritty sand or potato chip is not.

As I'm about to list my car, I'm sure some users will stumble upon this post.
To clarify: I had never owned a manual before and was driving in freezing temps. I also had no garage or experience working on cars. Six months later + driving a dozen other cars, I can confidently say my car wasn't grinding gears lol. If this is still concerning to anyone who reads this, I encourage a thorough test drive and/or PPI. You'll quickly be able to see that everything is functioning properly.
