M2 CS Underbody Shots

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
I assume nothing new to see here, but I figured I'd share the photos I took after I rinsed off the salt on the lift.

I did not have an M2 before, so I was really impressed at all the bracing and attention to detail for rigidity that is in place on these things!

I thought these cross braces and the steel plate over the exhaust were impressive pieces of rigidity. The plate even as it goes over the exhaust is rather beefy piece of stainless.

On the front end, the lower arm receivers appear to be an aluminum machined receiver bolted up to the body. Haven't noticed that type of configuration on my other cars before. This would be a great point to compare on a Competition to see if there is a change here at all.

If there's anything under the car you want a better shot or something close up of, let me know, it's just sitting on the lift for the next few months.

I'm still mystified where the weight loss savings evaporated to, and how the steering is so improved over the older models. Solving those mysteries will be really interesting.

There is definitely nothing in the adaptive suspension that is beefier/heavier than a stock suspension. I'm not sure if the 2NH brakes as standard is part of the weight increase or not. Then there's been the discussion about extra coolers or not.

Then little things like different bushings or mountings etc would be where we'd find the steering changes outside of software.

Definitely standard M2. This guy uploaded an "undercarriage walkaround" a bunch of years ago and you can see the same machined aluminum part at 2:33

I think the only carbon bits that save weight would be the hood and the top, the rest is pretty much a wash. I've read that the adaptive suspension does weigh more than the standard dampers but I'm not sure about that.
It will be interesting to finally sort out all the differences. If there are some noteworthy changes then they could likely be retrofitted to the M2C.

So far I see nothing different between those pics and the M2C and maybe even the OG M2.

Lightbulb

Op, can you take a picture of the rear pipes entering and exiting the muffler. On the 2017 one single pipe in and four pipes exit the muffler. The welded in y-pipe seems likes something that was possibly customized for the CS.

The comp has 4 pipes into muffler and four pipes out. Seems to have the same y-pipes or muffler as CS. 2:47

It looks different to me. 19:49, but could be the angles.

I'll try to get a better shot, and part numbers off the muffler, but it does Y out to 4 pipes into the muffler.

I'm curious if the part number on the muffler can matches or not. Baffling could be different inside. 1-830-8-747-994

Really ?

have you ever heard the sound of an M3 CSL? a 458 Speciale or an F12 TDF?
I doubt !

M3 CSL - No.

458 Speciale - Yes... and quite a few others. Driven a Stradale as well.

Flat out honest - I like the way the CS sounds better than the 981 GT4. I like the growl and lower tone. That's my ear. It's not a "beautiful" tone, it's not like the Aston DBS, or Huracan's I've driven, but it's unique and I like it for that.

My 5 year old daughter kinda nailed it when we ran under an overpass "It's like it's angry, and shouting at us!" as she laughed gleefully.

the main thing is that you are happy ....

I have a Speciale and a Pista and the only flaw for me of the M2 CS is the sound
that's why I installed an Akrapovic line the sound is finally up to par of my expectations
