M2 CS base price poll for no M-DCT + no M-CCB | UPDATE Nov 6, 2019: €95K base price

Though currently still waiting for confirmation about standard features and options later this Autumn, we may assume that the M2 CS will come fairly kitted out stock from factory, with only a small list of options. The M2 CS base price has not been officially released yet.

Earlier this month an "around €95K" quote for the German market was leaked:

Got an info today [Sep 9, 2019] by somebody high up at BMW that we're gonna be looking at around 95k € base which would prove your point Artemis - caught me off guard though I must say.
Was hoping for 80k € base.
Scenario 1: if the ± €95K base price quote would be accurate:
  • ± 60% extra compared to the original M2 (2016 list price) = ± €95K;
  • ± 45% extra compared to the M2 Competition (2019 list price) = ± €95K.
Rough conversion math for the US (proportional change: % instead of currency conversion):
  • ± $53K (original M2 2016 US list price) + ± 60% = ± $85K;
  • ± $59K (M2 Competition 2019 US list price) + ± 45% = ± $85K.
Conclusion 1: M2 CS base price guesstimate of ± $85K for the US and ± €95K for Germany (VAT included).

More recently the German car magazine Sport Auto specified "ca. 90000" as M2 CS base price and "ca. 102000" with M-DCT (± €3900) and M-CCB (± €7900) options included (indicated as "driving dynamics relevant extras") (see the dedicated thread here):

Views: 3498

Scenario 2: if the ± €90K base price quote would be accurate:
  • ± 52% extra compared to the original M2 (2016 list price) = ± €90K;
  • ± 38% extra compared to the M2 Competition (2019 list price) = ± €90K.
Rough conversion math for the US (proportional change: % instead of currency conversion):
  • ± $53K (original M2 2016 US list price) + ± 52% = ± $81K;
  • ± $59K (M2 Competition 2019 US list price) + ± 38% = ± $81K.
Conclusion 2: M2 CS base price guesstimate: ± $81K for the US and ± €90K for Germany (VAT included).

Beware, don't take these guesstimates for granted. Nothing has been confirmed yet.

So, what do you consider 'the right price' for the M2 CS, if fairly kitted out stock from factory (without options such as M-DCT or M-CCB) ?

Keep in mind: never included in the base price of M cars:
  • M-DCT option on M4: Germany: €3900 (VAT included) | US: $2900
  • M-CCB option on M4: Germany: €7900 (VAT included) | US: $8150
  • total on M4 for both: Germany: €11800 (VAT included) | US: $11050
Feel free to tick the box of your choice in the poll above this message.

The 'right' price is whatever people are willing to pay. Perhaps BMW will learn from their pricing of the M4CS/GTS. I'm curious to see what people are willing to pay. The C8's pricing certainly doesn't help. Personally, the 'right' price for me would be $75k base, with the option for $8k CCB's to bring it to $82. The M2C is already such a capable car.

I voted for $76-$80k. I think that would be the money spot right there without CCB's. But I'm pretty sure it's going to be more than that. Let's see...

Are you going to option yours with the CCBs? Do CCBS last longer for street use?

No I don't think so unless the price is right. The red calipers that are the standard brakes are gonna look sweet already. To answer your question yes they do last longer on street use and have barely any brake dust so rims will look cleaner most of the time.

Magazine Price would be accurate.

Starting at 81K USD, the M2 CS could be the most collectable M of all time.

Who is Magazine Price? $81K would be a bargain for the base price.

German car magazine Sport Auto quoted "circa €90K" base price (6MT without M-CCB or other options).

See first post of this thread.

I'd be interested at $75k but at $85k I think it is just too expensive.

I paid $58,700 USD for my 2019 M2 Competition in September 2018.

I say the M2 CS is worth 10,000 - 15,000 more than what I paid for my M2c.

That said between $69,000 - 74,000 is what I realistically want to pay for the CS. If BMW prices this thing more than $80k I will simply laugh and wont look back.

No way I am paying $20,000 more for carbon fiber cosmetic pieces without any weight savings and an engine tune. Also like Long Beach Blue a lot and the M2 CS will not have this color.

There is a 14 page post on this very subject with 326 comments. It's in this forum section and called M2 CS gets confirmed 450 HP. You might want to read through it. Lots of thoughts and observations on the pricing of this car.

Not sure who this is directed @.

If you read the other thread you are referencing, you would know that Artemis was at the event in Belgium.

Probably knows a lot more details but has excused himself from sharing/leaking per his conversation with bmw folks.

That other thread has turned into a nonsense p car debate .

I also just reread the thread and don't know what was the point of my post . Apologies

The thread you refer to deals with all sorts of M2 CS aspects.

As the leaked info got us somehow a better idea of the M2 CS total package, this thread specifically deals with pricing guesstimates + features a dedicated poll.

FWIW, my 'right base price' vote: Germany: €80K-€84K | US: $72K-$75K.

If the 'real base price' (manual transmission and no options) is positioned higher (≥ €85K), then see below my personal opinion (and IMHO I'm not the only one thinking along those lines).

I realize. I just thought there was a lot of great member insight and thought in that thread on the M2 CS price / value. Also some interesting price comparison's against P cars. Though not sure why anyone would be cross shopping an M2 as Porsche doesn't really have a comparable car IMO. My guesstimate is 83k U.S. by the way.

I think this makes sense. My guess is the German quote for €95k is with DCT as that seems to be how most European models are sold base upon BMW statistics. It's the US market that seems to drive the 6MT.

Effin this...

If that's the case I don't know what color I'd get it in. Don't want another black car and the other choices don't scream must have. I'm torn really.

I get your logic about the $20k more not being worth it, but it's not just cosmetics and a tune. The CS models just feel different in a much better way than the Comp's do.

The Adaptive Suspension tuned specifically to the tires and chassis can make the world of difference.

I don't know why so many discount such an important nuance between both vehicles. :

I voted less than $71K simply because it's pricing itself out of the competition. Hell, if it's much higher than that, I would look at a GXX M3/4.
