I find the kick down concept too much like a normal AT, and that's why I don't use. (aka floor it and go)
As stated before: if I need to do a fast acceleration - I do it myself. A few paddle clicks - you are gone!

Yep, on previous DCT i normally use the stick to shift when changing down manually, I don't like wheel mounted paddles.
At least the BMW DTC stick shift is the "right" motorsport way round i.e push forward for downshift. Unlike VAG cars which are back to front.... Funny that normal porsche PDK is also backwards, but they turned it round on their GT cars! Just to confuse folks... |

THIS! It's so annoying, I don't own any Porsche's but have driven a few, and putting the weird shaped fob on the wrong side of the wheel on turning it with my non-dominant hand was one of the weirdest car experiences ever...

There was a reason, nowadays it is only a tribute to the past.

?? RHD cars all have the key on the right hand (door) side. (every car I've ever driven). That said BMW push start is on the left side, but keys were always on the right.
I assumed LHD cars would all have the key on the left hand side? |

The dct shifts so fast just downshift manually with the left paddle to help alleviate any shock to the drivetrain, sure it is not as fun but it'll save your car.

If you hold the downshift paddle it will drop you to the lowest gear same as kickdown but before you even hit the gas!
I never use it as I am worried about the SCH and trans lol.

The large downshift will still make the revs jump suddenly which still isn't good for the crank hub, but better than the kick down. Imo just tap the paddle for every gear you want to drop and give a split second in between to let the motor rev up.

That is how I always do it too. I have never used the max downshift option, not even on track.

So funny enough, my fiance's 2019 Mazda 3 Hatch has it the correct way. Back is up, forward is down.

Nope, all non-Porsche LHD cars have it on the right also.

In RHD markets the traditional key start was / is still on the door side (rhs) on pretty much all cars, but push starts seem to have moved to the centre console side.
So is always been normal in all traditional cars for me to start engine and check neutral at the same time... Is US which side was a key start usually? |

Hub Issue
I asked some BMW dealer shop techs the other day at two different dealers and they had no clue about any hub issue? He also told me if they had a major issue they would do some kind of recall. So I'm starting to wonder about this. I'm doing oil every 5k and dealer does free one just don't reset oil counter. Just love this car to death it's the wife daily driver and it has enough power in stock form for her. Still a blast for me to drive and I got her away from the mini that she loved. Her last four cars were minis.
