My just got out of Quality check and is now awaiting carrier assignment. Dunno why it took so long, but at least I wasn't the only one?

This just happened to me. I'm glad as I thought it was in limbo because of the airbag issue, which doesn't seem to be figured out yet. Mine was a week 17 build; overall it was delayed about a week.

Maybe it was the airbag issue and they fixed the ones in the queue so the factory can continue production?

From what I'm being told, there has not been any replacements sent by bmw and the dealers are still waiting. My car is still just sitting in the lot.

Has anyone talked to their dealer about getting a loaner? I'm not even sure how to approach this situation anymore or how to accurately convey my disappointment/seek compensation.

You should talk to your dealer, they should be able to accommodate. The cost comes out of BMW NA and they usually do this for instance when a car is stuck in customs, etc.

They offered to make my payments on insurance and car until its ready, refund my PCD expenses, and pay for me to go to the performance center at a later date. Would like at least a loaner instead or something i mean come on. I didnt order my summer car in January for it to be delivered in July
Honestly, reasonable offer. Maybe ask for money off the car.

It’s possible that a fix will be identified soon but there is no ETA for resolution yet so I am not holding my breath. Throughout they have been both extremely professional and apologetic.
This was my ED experience today. I got the vague email a couple days ago and wasn't sure what to expect when going to the Welt. There was a lot of confusion and at times a bit awkward because they were so apologetic. I also got a new M140i to drive to finish our trip and I guess they also considered giving me the 7 series. Bonus: I got to do a 5mph lap around the display area in my M2C.

Best part was that not having my M2C for the rest of the trip wasn't a letdown and I'm happy to drive their M140i. They handled the situation perfectly and were much more upset than I was.

I normally couldn't care less except for the fact that I have less than 2-4 months to drive due to health (I have ALS). Of all the people that would be willing to sign a disclaimer, it would be me! A faulty knee airbag isn't going to kill me! Ha
I gave up on this shenanigan. Canceled my deposit and buying a 2017 M4 Comp. was really looking forward to the M2 but with no end in sight I didn't feel I had a choice.
Everyone can thank me because I'm sure as soon as I decided to do this BMW will come up with a solution. Ha!

Refreshing to see such a positive and sensible comment.... while I am still very sorry for those who are so disappointed by the delays resulting from this technical issue.

Strange, but if you look at Real OEM - it looks like only the US cars get the knee airbags. Not sure how accurate this is info is, but may explain a few deliveries. I would be shocked that non-US cars would not have this

US M2C:
https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=72_0764

EUR M2C:
https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=72_0764
Should affect US cars only. In average more people in the US drive without using their seatbelts than in other countries therefore the American crash tests put more weight on crashes where the driver doesn't have a seatbelt. To still get a good crash test rating BMW therefore uses bigger driver and passenger front airbags and also knee airbags in the US.

If there's no fix by then, yes

Probably not. Sounds like the affected cars were ones built through 4/30/2019 according to the notice shared in another post. My build just went to status 153 today, which was the estimated build date set when it was in status 150 last week. I am guessing they got the corrected airbag for new builds at this point to keep the production line running.

Interesting that we all updated at the same time. A stop-sale makes sense as selling/releasing the car could be a major liability. What doesn't make sense to me would be completely stopping production; that seems tremendously inefficient. Why not finish building, then address the airbag issue once there's a solution, opposed to stopping production and waiting? Build the cars, ship them out, then have dealers deal with the recall.

I agree really inefficient to stop production. We still may see them stopped at the vdc port.. I hope not but only time will tell. Good news is at least we have movement

Exactly. And hopefully by then there is a solution available and it's a quick remedy. I get the feeling that the online tracker is borderline useless... Only good for giving us all anxiety!

Really hoping that there isn't an additional hold at VPC. Mine already sat in QC for two weeks... what would they have been doing during that time if not fixing it?
