The above is the URL with NAmodelCode most likely being something like 162x to mean MY 2016 2 series and some arbitrary number.
Might end up being one of the following:

I know the answer for me, tweaked 2 series of course! 'Cause I'm a fanboi

that cayman would be missing so much stuff it would pretty bad.

i think the base stereo is like a 2 channel 40w system. as much as i like driving a car, i'd still have to live with it...

personally think the first cayman that is sort of cheap and a decent value is the cayman/boxster black (sadly can't get the S with that bundle) since it bundles a lot for cheap. like $60k vs $52k
The Porsche option list is LONG so comparing base prices is tough. Have to configure like for like options to compare.

M2 would be a perfect car for the throwback speed cloth of M's of lore.

you want a discount... f*&k off and buy an M3/M4...
you want a discount on a Cayman GT4...? F@ck off and buy a 911...
Otherwise.. if you WANT this car.. then get in line and BUY it...

Thank you.. you tell em!

They literally have stated they are not going to make this a full production car, with it sharing a factory with other models....they literally dont plan on making enough, they WANT you to buy an m3/4 its how business make more money off consumers, upgrading to the next model up. Just like how apple sticks to a 16gb iPhone to get people to spring for the higher capacity models.

of course I want the car, but am I going to be stupid and throw money, over MSRP, at a car company that cuts its own maintenance plans?

Haven't they said the opposite? It's not limited production and It'll be produced for years. I strongly suspect that if you want one, you can get it. And likely for ED MSRP at worst.

Sure, you will probably get one, but you may have to wait a year for it.

Not really sure why this has been bugging me so much lately, but I'm not liking the cheap-looking dashboard material...I know it's the same as the series car, I shouldn't care about it, the M2 isn't a luxury car, etc. etc. But it's just recently caught my eye as being supremely "plasticky".

It is 1 Series, an entry-level BMW. And the interior quality is significantly better than in the previous generation. I've sat recently in an M235i and had no issues with the plastics.

Get an M4 if the dashboard matters to you that much.

Admittedly, I have had no seat time in a 2-series so my observation is on looks alone.

Not even close GT350 all the way. Only problem is that here there will be a 14K difference between both. But regardless GT350. Epic engine, enjoy the last N/A cars while they last. Rare car etc

I agree,it's a sports car,the dashboard material should be the last thing that people should complain about.

The M2 in the US and Canada are priced so reasonably that people shouldn't be complaining about much IMO.

that's a joke, right?

I've seen 2 m235i's in the DC area in 2 years, and 2 228i's.

DC/VA/MD is BMW-land. not sure where they're all hiding, but given what I've seen, plus what they've mentioned about specifically NOT limiting production, I see absolutely no reason to believe there will be a 1 year wait OR that we'll see these by the dozen daily.

The 1 / 2 series interior is really not much different than a 3 or 4 series.

I don't think you could say either is better or worse honestly. the only "nice" interiors in this class are the m3/m4 just becuase you can get a leather dash or nappa leather, but really thats about it. all the knobs and rubber feels about the same

The interior of the 2 is ok, it definitely feels a bit cheaper than the 4 series, but the biggest difference from M2 to M4 is that M4 has a full leather interior option that the 2 wont have. The 2 series interior is a bit no frills, but by no means would I say its that cheap though.

Thank you and swagon for constructive responses.

To be fair, I don't think the bright lights of the show floor are doing any favors to the car's interior (or any interior for that matter...see X4 M40 thread. Woof...). Everything looks a bit too washed out.

Still have a deposit on the car, folks (and have for going on 13 months at this point). Some of you need to learn how to take criticism.
