AutoSolutions Short Shifter Question
Anyone with the AutoSolutions SSK go with 20% or 25%?
Ron has a 20% ready to go for me, but the pivot bearing is backordered for the 25% on all F8x cars. Should I take the 20% or is that not a noticeable enough difference? Thanks!

I tried a 25%, guy flaked and traded his car in before he could have it removed. I have 15% and it's already noticeable. Regardless of if you go with 20 or 25, you'll love it.

I'm at 22.5% with 95a bushings. I'm a little surprised myself because I figured that might be on the more aggressive side and I consider myself a middle of the road kind of driver. However, after everything has worn in a bit, I think it's perfect. I mentioned it in another thread but 22.5% is aggressive enough that you get the satisfaction of a crisp shift action without it being so aggressive that it accidentally trips the auto rev match function when shifting to neutral.

20% is perfect
the autosolution shifter is a highly noticeable modification since it remove all the play in the shifter. The feeling is amazing. I'm pretty sure you'll be super happy with 20% |

Go with 20%, it's perfect imo.
I had 25% to start, absolutely zero play but I found the 1-2 shift a bit too notchy such that I was hesitant to let the clutch out fast on 1-2 shifts just in case I wasn't fully into 2nd. If a dedicated track car it would have been OK but on street it took away the enjoyment of the otherwise dramatic improvement in shifting the AS brings. Ron was very good and I changed to 20% but it was a bit of stuffing around and the extra $ for removal/install. |

It's still a noticeable reduction. It's not 25% but the shifts are crisp and feels OEM+ I don't feel like I missed anything by going 20 or 25%

Has anyone heard from Ronald in a while? He let me know my shifter was just about ready in early March. Not in a huge rush and I'm sure he's busy, but I pinged him last week and haven't heard back.

I'd be surprised that yours isn't done yet. I had his SSK in my first M2C and had to wait a few months to get this one from him for my 2nd M2C. So I went from his kit to the OEM and now back to his kit again. It was interesting to see the difference again between the OEM shifter and his. I had to suffer with OEM for 5 months!

FWIW I went with 17%. Here is what Ron told me:
To give you some perspective there are 2.5 mm difference between 15 and 20%. so 1 mm difference gets you from 15 to 17 and another mm gets you to 19% and some of my 19% are actually almost 20%. So in short don't sweat it. It will be night and day compared to OEM. Use a dartboard if unable to decide. i can't recommend one over the other because it is really a matter of personal preference. I choose 22.5% on my car because I do not like the 25% and with usage the 22.5 feels like a broken-in 20%. And because this is America, you have 4 additional choices between these two ratios such as 16,17,18 and 19%. |

I have 25% and really like it. My first drive after install I hated it. It was stiff and notchy. Now that it's broken in it's super smooth with just the right amount of "click" into gear. It fixed a huge gripe of mine, was the 5-6 shift. It felt super wide and long. Much better now.
I think solid feel of the shifter will be noticeable regardless of reduction. Stock shifter is so spongy that it feels like it bends when changing gears. It also wobbles around when holding the shifter in turns. You can really lean on the AS shift. Solid. I got the bushing that added a little more vibration. I wanted a bit more transmission feel transferred into my hand. Still quiet. Don't notice any increased noise. I will say that you don't realize how effortlessly the stock shifter slips into gear until you swap it out. Shocking. Like I said above, initially I thought I made a mistake. |

I've had my SSK with 20% reduction and 80a+ bushings in my car for around 8k miles now. It was a bit notchy at first, but feels really good to me now. IMO it's one of the best and most noticeable mods you can do to these cars.

Anyone have thoughts on the Turner rear carrier bushing or Rogue transmission mounts? I have read that Ron doesn't think the Turner bushing is necessary, but curious to what effects people have found if they had them installed in their M2/M2C.

I think Ron mentioned that the distance in throw between 20% and 25% is only 1mm or 2mm. Very small. The force required to move things goes up. This can be amplified or reduced by shifter height. The reduced slop is experienced by all. I went for 25% because I hated the 5-6 shift. It felt weird and long. This made it much nicer. |
