What Windshield Brand Came With Your Brand New M2?

Hey guys,

I bought my M2C from the first owner, and my Fuyao windshield has a ton of these micro-nicks across the board. I initially thought it was stuck on dust particle of some sort, but after I polished it, I still couldn't remove it. Good thing is, it's not noticeable during daytime driving unless I drive past an underpass, and then I'd see little dots across my entire windshield due to the darker background.

Anyways, I did some research, and it seems like Fuyao is BMW OEM. However, the Fuyao that came with mine didn't have the BMW logo, and I suspect the previous owner had a windshield repair done. My side and rear windows are all from Saint Gobain with BMW, E1, and ccc logo.

Can any of y'all who are still first owners of your M2 see if your front windshield also came with Fuyao?

This particular one I have (after Googling), seems like really bad quality and nicks easily...

For those curious, the little dots could be due to "pitting" (upon more Google research). Will see if these are removable or if they're actual micro chips...

F22/F87 OE front glass is Sisecam out of Turkey. It's not particularly special and mine had to be replaced after only a year due to a rock impact. I know Fuyao has a mixed reputation, but the Fuyao replacement windshield on my Mazda 3 seems better and has lasted longer with less pitting than the OE St. Gobain glass that came on it. I'm pretty sure they are all similar junk .

Thanks for all the replies y'all! @///MPhatic looks like we have the identical Fuyao! I guess BMW uses different windshields depending on availability at time of production... Good to hear that pitting is fairly common. I guess I'll just stick to it for now and consider replacement through insurance when it gets bad enough.

I'm pretty sure those have been replaced. Especially your Made in USA one. BMW would never source glass for a car made in Leipzig from another continent.

Original was Fuyao. Mine got obliterated by a rock and was replaced with an "aftermarket" Fuyao that was exactly the same but didn't say connected drive. Replacement was done by safelite.

Mine is the same as this, my car was ordered by me and literally fresh off the boat when I picked it up so I know it’s original. Clearly they use more than 1 OEM.

Both my original (2021) and replacement were Sisecam with roundel on the glass. Fuyao may be a second source, though I still think the Made in USA one is probably a replacement.

Sisecam on my 2019, with BMW logo. Both the original and the original BMW replacement glass.

Is Turkey considered same continent as Europe?

From my Google research, it seems like the DOT-1038 denotes the plant that it was produced in, so it's a bit strange that ///MPhatic's would be made in the USA if it came with the car, unless BMW sourced it from different continents. But I do have a strong feeling mine was replaced because my rear and sides were all from the Saint Gobain.

It is possible that the Port replaced his windshield.

It is, it was a early production 2018 LCI delivered in Q4 2017 (October if I recall).

From the pics Mphatics logo doesn’t appear to say made in the USA. I could be wrong, wouldn’t be the first time lol.
